April Hatch Challenge....

Hey, it happens, don't feel so bad. I know at least 5 of mine are probably going away after I candle tonight. For shipped eggs, that's expected. I don't have to like it though.

Look at it this way- more then half your eggs are doing well!

Yup yup! Im totally happy with my 9! If I get just 2 to hatch I'll be thrilled! Id be happy if just 1 hatched but I need 2 for company and comfort. After hearing about the 100% Im like

Yep... I started with 4 Pekin back in Novemeber and I had a hen hatch them... I got 2, and I was thrilled!

One little happy healthy baby is better then none or all hatching sickly or weak.

Its always best the strong survive.

I set 41 eggs in the bator on March 18th - culled a rotten one 2 days later. I am candling on 3/28.

I have 12 White Rock x Golden Buff
13 Jersey Giants
15 Buckeyes

Hatch anticipated 4/8/09

I have eggs due to hatch under a broody april the 14 and I will be setting eggs atleast by next monday. They will be due to hatch the 20th of april. So we shall see!!

I finally got a broody gal....

She's got 8 eggs under her now......

4 from my own mixes, 4 from a coworker who's NEVER tested fertility.

Mine are all shipped eggs and some came all the way from PA to CA..so I don't think that with shipped eggs will be the same percentage as your own eggs hatching. Mine are due April 9/10. Haven't candled yet, will do it this SUn.

I candled the first bator today out of the 41 I started with we removed 5 the rest were all viable with lovely little embryos swimming around. Tomorrow I hope to candle the second one.The geese and ducks also looked viable will let you know I won't be candling the 25 until day 14 but I will post when I do.
