It is a wooden egg that is painted yellow (I was bored and had extra paint after painting my beehive)! It looks huge underneath them compared to the marans and australorp

So I just sold my white double tufted roo. I am happy and sad at the same time. I also had a nice couple drive 3 to 4 hrs this morning to buy some birds. They bought 3 cleanfaced hens, 1 tufted hen, and 1 tufted rooster. That should get them a nice start on a laying flock.

I have sold 3 double tufted lt cuckoo splashs to a lady. She is picking them up at the end of this month. Then I have a lady who wants 6 pullets and she will be getting them this month. Whew! I am seriously trying to get down to just the duckwings, the bbrs, and the birchens. And I am seriously considering selling my birchens. I have a tufted pullet and a tufted cockerel I may sell together, and then just concentrate on the duckwing and bbrs.

Although I do have a blue, black, and splash pen I will probably keep because I don't think anyone would pay the price. I think if I ask $ 400.00 plus shipping, no one will take it and thats ok too. It is a completely tufted pen. These are the birds in it.

This is the roo that will be going in it as soon as the white roo is gone.

And I have 1 other tufted blue that has tiny tufts in there too.

I also have a little blue trio I am thinking about selling. Nice tufted roo with two cleanfaced pullets. I will put them on show bird auction.

It all puts me one step closer to the incubator I want.

Hi Megan, I am probably going to get the Ova Easy 380. There is something about it I just really like, I don't know what though. LOL! I am still kicking around the Sportsman 1502 though. So I am not sure yet. I was hoping someone had experience with the Ova Easy cabinet incubators so I could see what they thought.

Lanae has been emailing me about the BB Red/ Wheaten subject and she has asked me for a picture of some of my Wheaten (ewh) Araucana pullets so I thought I would post it here. The three pictured below will be breeders, hopefully, within the next 2-3 months. This is the correct color for APA (both bantam and large fowl) for a BB Red. Wild type hens in the large fowl (e+) would be considered an AOV color. The pullet in the forefront is best overall in my opinion but she lacks the black in her primaries and secondaries although her coverts are mostly black. I am guessing this is because she probably carries some time of a eumelanin restrictor - probably Mahogany - but that is just a guess. The other two pullets in the background have the required black primaries and secondaries in their wing coloration with the 'bay' edging on each feather.

Ann,
Thanks for sharing the photo's and information. Photo's say so much and your Araucana's give us a direction to breed towards.
I'm already so excited, I feel like spring is here or at least really close! Nothing like chicks to make you feel like Springtime.

Thank You Ann, The birds are beautiful. A picture is definately what we needed. I will say I am a bit dissappointed, not by your birds, but the color. I was thinking the color was supposed to be a little lighter. Not quite wheaten Ameraucana but not quite that dark either. That is why a picture is so important.

When I saw your picture I realized I have had a few of those over the last couple of years, hatch out ( not as nice of course )and I sold them because I was going more for the wild type thinking that was what we were supposed to have.

I still have this hen and her full brother, but he seems too dark to be a good wheaten. She looks to be at least split wheaten. What do you think Ann if you see this.
