I have done it myself, and am prepared to again in the future. It has really helped to have the experience and have a handle on how to help a bird out if it's injured or ill beyond what is acceptable.
I raise DP also, but the pasture raised broiler traded to me for a flock rooster by the guy I found to process my meat, was indeed one of the best I've had.... without any brining or other magic tricks.
We do grow fruits and vegetables on our 1 acre with what little sun we get. Our growing season is short. And the other challenges related to weather are many. We plant ONLY edible plants when we do. No I'm not allergic to them and I think they are tasty and delightful, when
HOMEGROWN. Are you kidding me... have you tasted a white store bought tomato or strawberry that's been transported hundreds of miles + if not imported.

Anyways, in this day and age it is pretty cool how much most of us do have access to. Seriously I love bananas.

But I agree with the person who said this was a nonjudgmental area as indicated by the OP, even though it wasn't posted as a rule.
But beyond that... in THIS day and age... what gives you the right to tell someone else how they should live? Just because you don't eat animal products does not make you better than those who chose not to follow your religion. Why do people get all high and mighty when they suddenly become vegan and wanna scoff when someone doesn't measure up to their new found pulpit?
