Dorkings are not cuddly in my experience and seem, by nature, more wary of threats. BJG will eat out of your hand, but so far, not lap pets. Besides, they are the largest breed (according to APA standards), so not as likely to be as comfortable on your lap.
Oooh, I see. Yeah, they definitely check the “fat” part of my checklist haha!

My most friendly breeds would be my barred rock for sure and my RIR. Some of my Easter Eggers are extremely personable and some of them are super flighty
Is your RIR a bully to other chickens? They’re another breed I’ve heard are wonderful pets, but are a little bit bossy with their sisters. Also, is your Jersey Giant like cuddle material or not so much?

I have comets, NHR, BR, RIR, leghorn, EE, bantams and Buff and blue Orps..the Orps are my favorite. They are gentle, they let me hold them. We did not raise them from hatchlings...but they are sweet, let me hold and pet them all the time. They are also sturdy and good layers who live a long time. For me, they are my best choice so far!View attachment 1988054View attachment 1988055View attachment 1988056
Aww! I love your birds! Orpingtons are definitely a must for me :)

Some people have had problems with RIR being bullies. Mine take the stance as top of pecking order but nothing over the top They are sassy but personable and friendly with people but that's just my experience. Jersey giants maybe not cuddling material but friendly and petting material

Our friendliest chickens are our two Speckled Sussexes. They come running when we leave the house, follow us around as we do chores, talk to us, and love to be picked up. Our Buff Orpington is second friendliest, followed by Cinnamon Queen, Easter Egger and a beautiful Wyandotte who earned the name Skittles by being skittish and the least friendly.
