Lice only live on the birds. Mites can live in the coop. Both completely gross me out, so I treat coop no matter what though.

Thank you very much! I think this might be what I am seeing on the collected eggs.
I'm positive they are. You can try permethrin, but you may need to bring in the big guns and treat with Elector.Thank you very much! I think this might be what I am seeing on the collected eggs.I tried to get a closer picture, but my camera can't zoom any better. It sounds like the NFM are hard to eradicate.
A side-by-side.I'm positive they are. You can try permethrin, but you may need to bring in the big guns and treat with Elector.
Thank you. I ordered a small bottle of elector, but it won't be here for at least 3 days. Should I go ahead in the meantime and treat with permethrin? We have a tractor supply near here and I can probably get some tomorrow.I'm positive they are. You can try permethrin, but you may need to bring in the big guns and treat with Elector.
I personally would (I can't stand parasites), but maybe wait for someone else's input on that.Thank you. I ordered a small bottle of elector, but it won't be here for at least 3 days. +1 for permethrin spray. Make sure to get the formulation that can go both on the structure and on the birds, too. Read the label. The bonus is that permethrin will kill any bug messing with your chickens, including mosquitos and gnats. Please don't. DE won't get the job done. You need permethrin.
They are unfortunately a PITA. You'll want to treat them every seven days for 3 or 4 weeks to get all the newly hatching mites. It sounds like the NFM are hard to eradicate.
Even with the Elector? They are unfortunately a PITA. You'll want to treat them every seven days for 3 or 4 weeks to get all the newly hatching mites.
