Armed Forces parents, families and SUPPORTERS check in here!

Hey WOW! Great idea for a thread. My sister has been in the Navy for 20 years (medic) served time in both arenas of service and both Iraq wars.

So my "foster son" enlisted last month but won't get a ship out date till October! He scored really high on his ASFABS so he is getting his choice or schools. I am worried now that he'll have time to settle into his new life and not be really happy about going when the time comes, y'know??

I know exactly what you mean lol! Since Steven did basic between his Jr. and Sr. years I was hoping nothing would happen during his Sr. year to make him think twice about. One little skank tried to finagle her way into his choices but thank Heaven's it didn't work!

He just sent me a text message that they had a tornado touch there.

I haven't used Photobucket in a long time. They deleted a bunch of my photos, including Steven in basic training just because someone went through clicking "report" on a bunch of them.

My daughter came back from 14 months in Iraq in April. She is my hero!! Below are pics of Robin, the soldier...and Robin the chicken lover.....

We are so appreciative of all military heroes and their families. I now truly understand the sacrifices they make...

First and foremost, thank all of you who serve or have served as well as all of the family members who support these wonderful people. I am married to a Vietnam veteran. He served in the Navy. We believe that it is very important that military personnel and their families be treated with kindness and respect for their service.

We volunteer with a group that sends boxes overseas to deployed military personnel. A few items that we regularly send include - condiments, individually packaged snacks and drinks (crystal light, soup, oatmeal), socks - black or white, personal care items (trial size works well) like shampoo, soaps, hair bands, hair gel, hair spray (non-aersol), wipes, nail clippers, etc. The soldiers are given some of these items but most of the personal care items are not as nice as what we buy for ourselves. Hard candy & cookies are always a big hit. We don't send - chocolate, pork products, alcohol, or religious material (but we did send Christmas cards).

Thanks again to all who serve!

DH is putting his retirement paperwork in in less than 30 days. 20 years in the Marine Corps. I am so proud of him. He works so hard. Our oldest son just graduated. He enlisted in the Air Force. We are waiting on a ship date as well. He also scored so high on his ASFABS that we are waiting for the right school to open up for him to ship. I am so proud of his choice to join!
