Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I was hoping you were going to mention phoenix Luke. There is a syndicate in Tasmania that are bringing in a few breeds & phoenix are on their list. They are supposedly already in Oz, but so few that those who have them are keeping pretty quiet. Beautiful birds & reasonably productive. When I have space to have roosters... I can always dream.
Umm...We do have Phoenix here in Australia

and I know quite a few breeders that sell openly all the time. In fact they are more 'common' than the Yokohamas, which I have got.
I'm apart of this FB group, join them and you can ask if anyone has some for sale now.

Of course they are not as good as their overseas counterparts but still very beautiful.

These birds were bred from the birds left over/bought out from the uk breeding stock from the arpis1 failed import. Avgen the new company took the facility over and have new imports on the go and many more beautiful breeds will be hopefully coming here as well as ones to boost or gene pool

Luke my cream legbar roo is not the best. He did hatch from lovely blue eggs and his sisters were nice but unfortunately the fox thought the same thing about that. This guy is missing a crest and could have better colour (sorry the photos aren't the best) but I'm after his auto sexing and blue egg genes.

He is awesome and a real happy surprise! Shame about his sisters though.
So yours just going to keep him until you can get some more hens?

I had no idea cream legbar were hear either Luke and wondered what colour the eggs would be anf if they would hatch true to type but they were pretty good. They wouldn't give me any information about their breeding. I'll have to look up the breeder I bought them from, I wouldn't mind a few more dozen myself

So you have Creams as well, or did?
If you do get a hold of him do you think you could give me some info on them?

Thanks for the info Luke. Phoenix & sumatra will have to go on my wishlist for when I have space to have roosters though.

Just a week to go before my first chicks bust out of their shells!
haha ok. But yes plenty of Ph over here.
As with Sumatra, there are some here, BUT...they are illegal so if you do go searching for them I would advise not to buy them.

Hi everyone
I had a good laugh the other day went down south for a bit of a holiday with the family and took my son to a farm down there they had all different chickens here and there but in one pen it had that we are all the only type of our kind and they had them all together. I noticed that at the back of the pen was a Blue australorp hen and the pen a couple down had a couple of black australorp roosters asking for girls. I told the owner that they are the same breed just different colouring he laughed at me and told me that us city people don"t know what we are talking about. Umm ok :)
