The humidity won't kill them - remember chooks are tropical jungle birds - sometimes 100% humidity in the jungles.
We got ours girls from a wonderful place up at Glenorie. Lovely and very friendly lady called Lee. She has a wide number of colours available too. You can email her at [email protected]
Finally got Houdan eggs. The breeder only had eight so filled the dozen with auracana eggs. Let them rest for a day after they were shipped and set them this morning. Half an hour later I hear a bang and discover the lid of my incubator slipped off and knocked out three of my precious Houdan eggs. :'( They are cracked right at the air bubble. I put clear nail polish on the cracks but obviously very little hope for themso now I've basically spent fifty dollars for five eggs. The air cells didn't look right to start with, some very big, some just, messy looking.
I don't know what's going on with the incubator either. It's reading sixty three percent humidity but it's only been on for a day and is set for forty five percent. The room humidity is thirty.
Looks like I'm in for a month of worry with no babies at the end
The test run went so well and now that I'm hatching some that I want to keep..
