Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Oh wow they removed the whole comb.
No wonder you couldn't do it yourself and there had to be stitches. With dubbing you leave a little bit so in the end it looks more like pea comb.

Oh haha yeh when you said I could do it I was thinking no way haha!! Yeh she tore it most of the way herself right along the head and all the way to her nose :( was very scary.. Seriously though she would have died with the blood loss!

Luckily mum paid yesterday emergency fee of $300 so I get today's bill!
I know everyone keeps saying why did I bother for a chicken, but she isn't just a chicken she is a pet! And I'd do the same for any pet!

Plus I couldn't let her suffer!!
It was going to cost $200 to euthanize her or $300 to fix her! To me that was a no brainer lol! Specially when it wasn't life threatening!

Here Satay. Happy to see the hatches going well. Sorry to hear about your loss too mate.

Very lovely pics all! Glad Wilma is doing well.

So cute :love

Glad Wilma is on the mend, congrats red on your hatch. Sorry about your quails satay, that's really sad :(
Some of my pullets have started laying. So far I have two from my olive layers and two from a line of Marans I bought in as eggs. AND one of my oldest hens laid the other two eggs. I'm about to candle the giant one to see if there is an egg within an egg or just a double yolka!

Thanks Chook. Nice eggs :)

Ye, I suppose. Some people pay way more than that for their pets. I think you made the right decision for you:D .
I see you would have had a little problem with doing it yourself.lol. Well shes all well again and happy so that's good:) .

Yeh I think it was the right choice for her as she is only 18 weeks old.. She deserves to live a long life like any animal! And she sure is enjoying being in the garage away from the 5 others :) she is right outside my bedroom inside and she is loving the quiet!

Man, are they ripping you off. $200 to give a chook the green dream is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much. A few months ago, I had a 27kg red heeler put to sleep. The vet made a home visit, and the cost was still $175.

Glad all is well with Wilma, and you are happy at the result.
