Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

What where the colour of the two parents you got from Rob?
How could they have so many kick outs?? There are SLW's in there for goodness sake.lol.

The theory is that you keep the dark roo to keep the mahogany in them. I think that Rob used slw somewhere in the line to reintroduce the lacing. When you put blue and blue together you should get 50% blue, 25% splash and 25% black. I hatched 25 chicks this season and that ratio was pretty close.
Here are the parent stock.

They should have scant feathering for them to be 'French' Marans. Some lines have a little more feathering than required and some have not enough. We use the French standard for Marans in Australia.
How old are your aras? If you have pictures it may be easier to tell.

LOL that didn't take long !

thanks for your info about the candlers I found one in (of all places) Woolworth's for $20 - its a bike helmet set up but uses led light and has a magnifier glass lens ! It illuminates 400m

I set it in the box set the marans egg on it and I can see ! not as clear as a light egg But I can see SO on the weekend I will candle them and test my knowledge !

LOL I'm so happy (Now to hide it from Hubby so he doesn't take off with it for fishing !)

Some of my marans have good leg feathers and a couple have none at all. I think I read some where that the ones without leg feathering are more from the British lines than the French.
