Australorps breed Thread

Thanks for the nice complement..................those are from a couple years back, we are now using a completely different line of blacks that we are also breeding with our blues. We are very excited with the new breeding pens we put together and are hoping for the best quality of Australorps the we have hatched out yet!
We hatch out on Friday but may have some eager little guys surprize us tomorrow........yeeeeeehawwwwwww!!!!!!

and if the ban wasnt enough to chap your hide, the $140 customs fee 2 years ago is now certainly up there and the fear of the eggs being frozen in flight or the lack of care in handling is a very serious factor.............you may have scrambled eggs without even cooking them. I believe the only way to safely get them to the state would be hand carry them on the plane and keep them in your lap or a secured baggage compartment.

Unfortunately Ross, there is an export ban from Australia at this time, I sure did look into it..that was last summer..I'm not sure weather or not they have lifted the ban..I think I posted the link a ways back in this thread..you might be able to find in byc search...we could seriously use some of your birds...)

G'day,

Yes, I understand the ban of eggs from Australia, as several years ago the American group who visited my farm, and other farms, looked into taking various fertile eggs back into the USA..

The basis of my question is what about eggs or live fowls from England?

Also with respect to another subject, I think Chet that you mentioned Gary Rossman. The Australorp Club of Australia used to send sets of ribbons for years to that American club. Have you guys heard anymore about the newly proposed club in the USA?

Regards,

Ross

These are birds from I believe a German Poultry Facebook Group (Geflügel). There was also a project brown red Australorp that was pretty.

Hi Cuba,
Interesting pics. I've seen British birds before but not German. Gee, the conformation's different! The tail on the boy! And the girl reminds me of a Hamburg. Nice tight feathering though. A bit of 'value added' there I reckon. Has Ray's book arrived yet? I sent it 'snail mail' but surely it's there by now.
Regards Geoff

G'day,

What are the thoughts on this young fellow?

Ross
Hi Ross,
I'm a bit late on this, but I'd just like to say "nice boy". I'm sure lots of us would be interested in your critique of the bird. I know it's hard when it's your bird and they rarely pose 'good' for pics, but what do you see as the strengths and weaknesses? Just from the pic, are the comb points a little uneven? Is the back just a tad short? Is the tail carriage a tad low? Please don't take this as a putdown of the bird, Ross. I'd love him! Just trying to learn how to pick between 'gooduns'!
Cheers Geoff
