Vaseline on combs?

As the Australorp comb is pretty large, should I be putting vaseline on the combs during colder weather?

How old is your hen? I ask because chickens are different from other animals, like cows, in that their gender changes with age, and not with birth/laying. Pullets become hens at one year. Just for clarification,
