Australorps breed Thread

Well, on the news there have been a few lone wolf attacks, which is strange. Normally we don't have many of them, so no large packs, and they tend to be very afraid of people, so they're rarely even seen. The only time they've been a problem is if some idiot cornered one, or messed with a den that had pups in it. They are also talking about allowing a hunt to thin the bear population. Bears are protected here, so you can't even shoot one if it's killing your pets, and/or livestock. The animal rights groups are gearing up. I wish they would mind their own business. They've done a lot more damage than good here when it comes to wildlife.

Don't get me started though I totally agree with you!!!!! Though the problems that their having in eastern washington are wolves just killing for fun.

Makes me so mad.

Since you purchased pullets--and there is only a 5% chance of them getting it wrong, odds are greatly in your favor. Now with them being 7 weeks old with no cockeral comb or wattles(go back to the picture I posted and look at the big pink wattle) you have an even better chance of having all pullets.

At 22 to 25 weeks old all of them will be laying eggs for you.

Cool thanks and I was only saying at least one could be a boy as that's what someone told me so that's why I was posting here to make sure from people that know the breed.

Good looking splash pullet Ron. I am trying to get more black marks in mine this year, we will see. I do not know why I like the splashes so much, but I do. I broke up my breeding pens for now unless I get a special order for eggs or chicks.

Looking good!

The Australorps that I hatched on New Years Day are now 17 weeks old. Pretty Splash too.
Very pretty :). Got a bit of a soft spot for the splashes myself :) Speaking of which my 16 yr old who spends more time indoors than out these days spotted Pepper yesterday and wanted to know "OMG when did That chicken get so big and fat!" Lol

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the right spot to put this, but I need to rehome my australorp roo. He is great with the ladies but is being picked on by the other roo and it's causing havoc. I'm in NC and would prefer not to ship him. He is about 11 months old and is beautiful! Please PM me if you are interested in him. I'm willing to drive to meet you halfway if needed.

P.S. I lived in outback Australia for a while and only was chased by a snake once! :p
