baby duck with lots of problems

I'd never had that happen before, she was perfect broody but I think she just freaked out when those eggs actually started doing something. The other egg didn't make it so Opie was her only hatchling that year. I know it was a miracle I got there when I did she had pecked him hard on his lil head to make open places. But they healed up quick and he is healthy, you just never know what goes on in the mind of a broody.
Oh no!! Awful. Thank goodness you had gotten to him in time.

I guess broody means hormones and the ladies go nuts or something.

I didn't watch Dark Shadows isn't that the one with the vampires? I vaguely remember that one. Oh yes they were a lot tamer back then. They would never skinny dip in the pool like Que Sera and Yoo Hoo. lol

I looked at the weather prediction for the next three days. I'm sending you all showers and thunderstorms. I don't want them. I'm tired of mud and all my ducks umbrellas turned upside down from the last storm.

I'm not looking forward to trying to catch Clyde today. He is limping bad and I'm afraid he has bumblefoot. He is the peking and Que Seras baby daddy.

Have a great day all and get ready for all this rain.

Patty
p.s. Que Sera had her breakfast and she is doing fine.
Yay Que Sera had breakfast. Cute little girl in her routine.

Is Clyde like Thelma in that he does not wanna be handled? He is a big dude of a duck but very cute. Please keep us in the know about his foot. I hope it is an easy treat and fix.

Thelma won't let anyone near her. I only have two ducks that will eat out of my hand. Topper and Dee Dee the rest of them won't let me close. They will come up to me for treats but I have to throw it to them. That's what makes Que Sera even more special I actually have a duck that will let me hold her. Now that her feathers have come in she's letting me hold her again.

I just put her in the back yard she floated in the tub again this morning. Those little legs dangling down looked so cute. I'm shocked here she is not screaming for me to come out. I can see her walking around in the yard but she's not yelling for me to come out. I hope they haven't duck taped her mouth shut. lol

Patty
That does make Que Sera so special that she lets you hold her. I mean, look at her. I could not see her and not touch or hold her. Her looks combined with her personality and then her trauma over losing Turbo make her such a sweet lovable little young duck.

The dangling duck legs in the pool are too cute.

Haha. Hopefully they haven't duck taped her mouth either. If she is quiet and you see her walking around she must be focused on something or she's just enjoying the yard and everybody else.

Me too. Isn't his little face priceless?
He sure was a cutie. I have to tell ya'll this, a couple days after he hatched [I had to keep him upstairs in my room] because we have 4 dogs and I didn't want him running around downstairs unless I could give him my undivided attention, so we took a metal dog crate and wrapped it in hardware cloth to keep him and bedding in the crate, worked on it quite a while to get it safe, so I take it upstairs put everything in it then Opie, come back down stairs and start supper, Now I have to tell you our home is a an A frame so to join the 2 upstair bedroom we have a cat walk hope you know what that is, anyway I tell my dh sounds like Opie is walking right above me on the cat walk, and oh my gosh he was he had climbed all the way to the top of that crate and I guess fell on the floor and walked out of the bedroom and was standing at the top of the steps when I started up them. He is only 2 days old. lol so from then on after I took my winter clothes out of the huge container they were in that became Opies new brooder till he graduated to the X large dog crate .And I kept the door closed so when we were not able to be with him he had the run of the bedroom, I went through alot of newspaper and paper towels back then.

Oh yes Clyde is like Thelma he doesn't want to be handled. Even tho he is limping it will be hard to catch him. He's the biggest duck we have. I know this is not going to be fun. I'll let you all know how it goes.
