Badly egg bound hen!

Many times the relaxation of the warm water is enough to help her pass the egg. Epsom salt added to the water is very helpful too. I’ve had them lay a egg in the water. Apply oil to the vent after the soak. Give her a chunk of Tums sometimes the extra shot of calcium from the tums will help her pass it too.

Welp, I'm about to waste everyone's time. Sorry. :hmm
She likes company, but not attention or confinement. I was holding her down to look at her and she was screaming and flipping out like crazy. I put her in a cat kennel and she panicked even worse, so I carried her to a dog pen and let her loose, and upon her flying out, the egg shot out of her rear end like a bullet. The egg is HUGE and ROUND. Her eggs are normally small and extremely pointy. So I believe I mistook her hard and painful pushes as egg binding. She is walking normal, eating, and drinking. No wheezing sound or weird stance.

The egg though isn't normal. It is dull in color, and as I mentioned huge and round. Should I be concerned about her becoming egg bound next time she lays? View attachment 1667694 View attachment 1667697

How does her vent look?

I honestly couldn't believe it when I saw it :gigPart of me was so relieved while the other part was like "really you wait until I panic and seek the help of amazingly kind online individuals to finally lay that egg!!!"

It may be a double yolker. Every once in awhile I will have a hen lay a huge egg. I feel badly for them, it must be quite uncomfortable.

I would keep in eye on her to see how she does with the next eggs. I had one hen who started having problems shortly after laying a monster egg. I don't know whether the huge egg was the cause of the problem, or merely a symptom of it.
