Badly egg bound hen!

I just wanted to mention you all in one post to say THANK YOU for your really quick and informative posts. I will save your posts for the future, you guys are awesome!! God bless you all and have an amazing weekend :hugs:hugs:hugs If I come across another issue with her or notice something off I will post right away.

Right now she is resting in the nesting box, I am keeping an eye on her to make sure she's not trying to lay another egg.

Welp, I'm about to waste everyone's time. Sorry. :hmm
She likes company, but not attention or confinement. I was holding her down to look at her and she was screaming and flipping out like crazy. I put her in a cat kennel and she panicked even worse, so I carried her to a dog pen and let her loose, and upon her flying out, the egg shot out of her rear end like a bullet. The egg is HUGE and ROUND. Her eggs are normally small and extremely pointy. So I believe I mistook her hard and painful pushes as egg binding. She is walking normal, eating, and drinking. No wheezing sound or weird stance.

The egg though isn't normal. It is dull in color, and as I mentioned huge and round. Should I be concerned about her becoming egg bound next time she lays? View attachment 1667694 View attachment 1667697

Thank you for coming to the rescue so quick, I really appreciate it so much! I will save your responses so I know what to do if this happens again :hugs:hugs:hugs

This now has to go on the list of potential treatments for egg bound chickens: agitate the egg out of them!

Shes just chillin' out, glaring her burning hatred at me for invading her privacy  I will check on her later tonight again.

My thoughts exactly :gig

Yeah @DobieLover lol.
First put you hen in a dog crate grab the handle of the crate ....then run around till she’s done screaming. Take her out and squeeze!! :lau
:lau That sounds like a great plan, the hens may hate you for all eternity, but hey! The egg's out :gig

She's a pretty little thing!
Hey, you helped the little ingrate! She'd still have that monster to pass if not for you.
That had to hurt. It's like giving birth to twins at the same time. Ouch!!

:gig Like trying to get that last bit of shampoo out of the bottle.

This was my hen's monster egg. I cringed when I saw it in the box. Take a picture of your egg when you crack it open.
