View attachment 1533541 View attachment 1533542 View attachment 1533543 This is the pigeon that literally came and knocked on my glass doors asking for help about 6 months ago. He had no tail feathers and couldn't fly. I tracked his owner down and they said he was from Michigan! I'm in Colorado so I was shocked but it turns out that they recently moved here so they came and got him. My boy's were sad to see him go but we had a wonderful few days caring for him.
With just one pigeon I would suggest indoor. That is what we planned for our little guy if the owner didn't want him back. They can get pretty lonely by themselves. I had seen pigeon pants for them when they are out of the cage. I probably would have gone that route. So we have still not heard anything from the pigeon's owner, so we're starting to think this may be a longer term family member here on Three Bird Farm. If that's going to be the case, the first big decision is will this be an indoor or outdoor bird. I should preface this all by saying we usually do an inordinate amount of research before adding anything to our farm, but this guy caught us a bit off guard, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Major Considerations re: indoor or outdoor:
We have two cats that are *mostly* indoor cats
We live in Maine (on the coast, but it still gets pretty cold)
We have ducks and a duckhouse/duckrun for them
We both work from home, so we are frequently around
We welcome any thoughts/ideas/suggestions/etc.

But then again, I know next to nothing about pigeons but I did do a lot of research. I'm sure the experts on here are more knowledgeable. With just one pigeon I would suggest indoor. Hi! Funny seeing you hereHave you put grit out? Do pigeons need grit? It’s a beautiful bird. And in the best hands possible.
