Bantam and Large Fowl Cochin crosses official thread! *many photos are welcome!*

Yeah I agree! All the other dad choices have feathered feet, so to have barely any is a good sign the Isbar was in the mix!
Thank you. And I totally agree!
With Yuzu, if her mother or father were either my Red Bantam Cochin hen or rooster, then she would probably have more feathering on her legs.

Yes! I do have Cochin crosses! Thanks for thinking of me! :) I won’t know what the cross is until they lay eggs most likely, but I have guesses from others on this page as to what the likelihood is! :) Mom was a blue Cochin and the daddies were a Black Frizzle Cochin, Black Copper Marans, and a blue Isbar. I got one blue frizzle Cochin but the others are obvious mixes!

The splash girl is either a blue Cochin and marans cross or blue Cochin and blue Isbar cross. I’m guessing marans cuz she’s a bit larger bodied.

The blue girl is most likely a blue Cochin - blue Isbar cross. The coloring, size and tail shape best fit the Isbar so that’s our best guess!

And the black girl is most likely a blue Cochin and BC marans. :)
It's nice to see examples of a suspected Cochin x BC Marans cross. I had 6 blue Large fowl Cochin girls gave to me 2 months ago. They were supposed to be Blue Marans but oh well, I love them anyway. Next spring I will be hatching eggs from them and I have 2 Black Copper Marans boys and a young black silkie boy. Due to the size difference I just don't see my silkie Branch getting the job done with the cochin girls so I expect all the chicks to be a Marans cross.

Sounds like they will be super pretty! I love the purple and green sheen that reflects off Mumbles feathers (she looked like a penguin as a baby 🙃 ). I’m curious to see how the eggs look—I suppose it depends on the darkness of the Marans genetics :)

Here is one I already have of Susannah, who is a buff laced polish x white Cochin bantam 😉 IMG_20211009_193355260.jpg
