Sorry don't have my own pics my camera is acting screwy. But I do have the links to all the ones I bought on eBay. They got some really cute ones but DANG postage from overseas cost me just as much as the bentos!!

Kind of disapointed with this one. Is much smaller than I thought it was. Especially for the price! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=380106293098

I
really like this one.Larger size bowls http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=380107201623

Another
larger sized one. Spoon has a spot in the side! http://cgi.ebay.com/Snoopy-Stackable-Picnic-Set-Bento-Bottle-Bowl-Spoon-Cup_W0QQitemZ380112058617QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item380112058617&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A200

This
one is a bit on the smaller side but it's a thermal http://cgi.ebay.com/Peanuts-Snoopy-Thermal-Vacuum-Bento-Lunch-box-set-W-bag_W0QQitemZ260380250469QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Kitchen_Accessories?hash=item260380250469&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177

Can
you tell I'm a Snoopy Fan? I have a Snoopy Room in my house and Snoopy stuff everywhere thoughout

This one is pretty good sized too. Pink Panther is my #2 character, lol. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=380106557655

And
of course this one! http://cgi.ebay.com/Russian-dolls-Matryoshka-bento-lunch-box-set-LAST-ONE_W0QQitemZ190280303103QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item190280303103&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
The
little bag is just big enough to hold the larger box but it's got a snap on the handle so I can hook it took another one an use it to haul my breakfast!

I've also got the pink one, blue something or other from Ichiban Kan. I want a Tinkerbell and skulls like the one I got for my neice!!

YA'LL GOT ME ADDICTED TO BENTOS!! (AND CHICKENS!!)

Im definitely getting one for my youngest son before summer camp. I like the ones from http://www.ichibankanusa.com/, great prices but I dont have much room in the budget at the moment. He loves monkeys and they have both monkeys and bananas, I might have to mix and match. Nobody have any pictures of their lunches anymore?

I've really enjoyed reading through this thread. Great lunches....and adorable children too!

I may start doing bento for DH & I to take along to farmers' markets. We work from the homestead/farm, so are home everyday and don't have to pack lunch. Except in Summer - we take produce to farmers' markets 2 days/week. Bentos would be perfect!

And.... visits to family are 3 hrs (his) - 7 hrs (mine) away. Of course, we always pack 'lunch' for those trips. We could have bentos!

There's a new obsession in my future.

I've been low-carbing religiously for about a month (as opposed to just cutting sugar, like before), so I've been packing my own bentos. I need to start taking pictures again. But my bentos aren't nearly as "pretty" as my daughter's, because they're just full of protein.

I'm going to fry some dumplings this afternoon for her to take this week, and probably fix some sesame noodles ahead of time, too.

Ok, so I thought I was done after getting my chickens over a year ago. Then I discovered coturnix quail and am totally loving getting quail eggs every day. Then I see this post and just HAVE to find out what all this "bento box" stuff is about. Two weeks later, I have a cabinet full of bento gear, a crying wallet, and happy children.

Just got my quail egg molds in the mail yesterday and I'm dying to try them out!

Where did you get your molds from? Let me know if you think they would work for banty eggs. (BTW, Do you know how much a quail egg weighs?)

I just weighed one of my quail eggs and they are about 1/4 oz (10 g). These are the regular size coturnix, not the Jumbo. I doubt my Jumbo eggs would fit the quail egg mold, so the banty eggs would definately NOT fit, as the Jumbo quail eggs are a little smaller than banty eggs. They do have the regular egg molds for chicken eggs but they only fit medium to extra-large eggs depending on the mold. I got my quail egg mold from an e-bay seller who lives in Japan. The molds are available all the time on e-bay. We used them tonight to mold some quail eggs and my daughter gobbled those eggs up in a heartbeat.

Resurrecting this thread

OK I have been really interested in obento for a long time now, but never DO it. I am afraid of getting started, and the ratios and everything. I know its better for us to use it and cheaper and IF I can stay away from the snack machine or the local DQ I should (in theory) lose weight by using obento for portion control. So, how did all of you get STARTED, it seems so overwhelming to me!
