I have had horrble luck with the local hathcery "Poultry Hollow". All I have gotten is sick birds. They do not vaccinate and conditions are horrible.
What are some reputable hatcheries online? I would like the birds to be vaccinated.
The breeds that I am looking for are:
    1) Mille Fleur d'uccle
    2)Amerucauna
    3)Seabright (any color)

I would like to know your opinion on these types of hatcheries. Lately, I have had a bad season with chickens, and the people/hatcheries. I would just like to find good online company.
    Thanks [IMG]

Personally, I have had the best experience with getting chicks from Ideal Poultry. I have had about 6 shipments from them in the last 3 years and have nothing but good things to say about them. However, I am just a backyard hobbiest, not someone that breeds or shows. I look for friendly good layers and Ideal has been a good source for those. I had one Easter Egger from Ideal that was stunning to look at and a great layer. Before buying from Ideal, I had gotten chicks from two other big hatcheries, Privett and Welp, and been happy, too. My experience with getting eggs from locals has been good, but since your profile says Tennessee, I can't really recommend anything local to you.

    Best Wishes.

I forgot to add, Ideal does vaccinate for an extra $0.10 or $0.15 a chick. Their minimum is $25, not 25 birds. That makes it easier for me to order a smaller number of just what I want.

I also have had good luck with Ideal poultry. I been ordering from them since 2007 and have no complaints. Their customer service is very good.

I have ordered twice from Meyer Hatchery in Polk, Ohio, and have been very pleased. I would look at the major hatcheries online to see what breeds they carry and how far away from you they are. Many bantam breeds and certain others aren't available until summertime. If you are having issues it could be something in your own setup too. I'm not saying that it is, but I would look at that also. Many people don't believe in vaccinating their chicks, but instead feeding them apple cider vinegar in their water (1 tablespoonful to a gallon), non-medicated chick starter, and getting them exposed to soil as soon as possible.

I will definitely be looking into these hatcheries! Thanks! Well I know it's not my set up or environment since only the chickens I have purchased from poultry hollow are sickly. Everyone else is healthy as can be.

I ordered some Barred Rocks from Ideal Poultry last summer and had a good experience, I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. [IMG]
