Stellars Jay!!! We have a gazillion (scientific number) that come around. One year when they were doing construction down the street, a resident jay learned to imitate some of the sounds. Another one learned that if he imitated a hawks whistle, he could have the bird feeders all to himself🤣
That is fascinating! And funny...

Great! Did you put it out yet and do the birds like it?
Nice! The most popular suet with my birds is this no melt kind from Walmart. I’m glad they like it because it’s extremely cheap especially when bought in the cases rather than individually
Oh my birds love this stuff!! Its the only kind I buy!

I don't know if any one is interested in this, but project feeder watch is a website where you count birds and then enter your data. I am doing the project feeder watch counting.

I haven't put it out yet, but I am planning to (my suet feeder is filled now). :D

I've been considering doing project feederwatch, but isn't i similar to eBird (which is free)? I don't know know much about it, what is your opinion?

Has anybody here tried making homemade suet? I want to try it to hopefully attract a few woodpeckers.

Yesterday I set up a little bird bath in a garbage can lid. I plan to keep it going all winter. I also set an old pan on the ground to work as a platform feeder, and put several different foods in it so I'll see what the birds like best, and hope it doesn't all go to the house sparrows...

It's my first year doing feederwatch and I'm pretty sure it's free.
Nice bird bath and platform feeder idea! :clap What did you put in it?

Maybe I gotta read through the instructions better!

I put some rocks in the birdbath, and in the feeder I put cheap birdseed, wheat, a bit of chicken feed, rabbit pellets, unsalted nuts, an old tomato, and a couple apple slices. It will be fun experimenting!
