black meat breeds, silkies ect....

Maranfarmer,

Wouldn't geese help out with hawk deterring too..............you know................. since they are big and loud birds?

So no on the janoel jn7-56 for incubating? My bf is telling me to make up my mind. I would likely keep in in my daughter's old bedroom we never go in, it's the coolest room in the house with the least air flow.

The Genesis 1588 is what I was thinking for hatching?

Where would I get the jungle fowl?

Sorry, I didn't mean jungle fowl, "oriental game fowl", they are a type of fighting chickens, but they are nice as meat birds too.

That's just from what I read about the Janoel's larger models being funky and not as reliable as a regular foam bator. Genesis 1588 does seem to have better ratings over all.

I honestly wouldn't know which to really recommend, since my small Janeol 12 is my first bator, but has been reliable so far(I still have 5 more eggs going to hatch this weekend). So, go with gut instinct, over all ratings for the two models or ask on the forum for some help, i'm sure others may have similar models and can give better recommendation :)

Oh, here is some video of a small hobby farm in Minnesota that specialize in black meat chickens for the Hmong/Asian community up there and how their bird looks like to give you an idea of what you can possibly be breeding for your projects

My lone survivor from this Thanksgiving's day hatch of 3 chicks. It's about a week old now and healthy.................I shall call it Turkey/T-1 LOL

We'll see how it turns out later and the gender, since these fm chickens are so hard to sex at young age..................wouldn't mind seeing your fm Phoenix adults or chicks either :)
