This is such sad news. Through his posts on BYC Bob taught me the difference between hatchery chickens and birds bred to standard. He changed my whole approach to raising chickens. I was hoping to get to meet him someday. He will be missed.

Time to go out and build some breeding pens in his honor.

I am at a loss for words over Bob's passing. I have taken comfort in reading all the lovely posts from everyone who knew him. I always made sure to read his posts because I knew there was a jewel in each of them. A great man has passed but I know his legacy will live on.

For everyone who knew him, he really encouraged new people with his knowledge and made it impossible NOT to like him.

Such a tragedy, and my heart is there for his family. :(
Yes he did and didn't make you feel your production rir's were dirt just because they were production and not heritage. He was so nice and encouraging. Told me to enjoy my birds. Such a nice person!

Wow. Been off BYC for a few days dealing with my wife's health issues. Bob's knowledge and enthusiasm for heritage breeds will be greatly missed. Hopefully those of us who benefitted from him will be able to pass on his dedication to others.
Bob, you will be missed. Thank you for sharing.

I would like for everyone to know that I spoke with Bob's wife Zora for a few minutes today to check on her, see how she's doing and let her know about this memorial page for Bob. I told her about the numerous messages and calls I have received about people wanting to send her their prayers and positive thoughts. She is very grateful for everyone's kind words about Bob. It would be best to send cards to the address in Silverhill, Alabama if you would like to instead of calling. 14390 So Blvd

Their son is there and we still don't know anything about arrangements.
