Brabanters and Spitzhaubens--The Differences PIC HEAVY!

Pics
She's a definite walnut. His tail sure goes up! I wonder if the tail is something that changes with age? As the feathers lengthen they hold them more upright? Probably not. I have a feeling that Spitz are slowish to develop. Mine seem to be taking their time.

Going back to the pictures... don't they look spotted not spangled? http://www.appenzellerspitzhauben.co.uk/files/imagegallerymodule/@random4b3e33e18bfa0/gallery2/gallery_copy_silver_popup.JPG

I wish they wouldn't do that...use pictures that aren't good examples. These pictures came from the Appenzeller Spitzhauben site in the UK.

I've see Dutch (MAYBE NORWEGIAN?) sites with Brabanters that clearly have a more Polish crest. I guess perfection is eluded worldwide

According to the site, these are prize winning birds!

I think it's just bad spangling. Brabanters can have the same issue.

What's the difference between spots and spangles?

You see a lot of that Polish-ish crest with Spitz too. . Many of my pullets have that going on... I'm hoping the cockerels will be able to tone it down. That's how this whole discussion got started... finding the best cockerel (with the best crest) for my "keepers" pen!
I think you just may be right about perfection.

hallerlake: I was hoping someone who knows would answer about spangles. Because I can't be very technical. But in a nutshell, spots are round and spangles are at the end of the feather, sort of a fat sideways C, I think. I'm wondering if tear shape is considered spangles, too. I don't know but might see if I can find out.
