Here's my Buff Brahma Bantams (a dark brahma and barred rock bantams).
Just starting to lay eggs! Not show quality but beautiful birds anyway.
This is my first year with chickens and they are way cool!

Your birds are very pretty! Thanks for sharing.
I ask the same question last week and on sat. my Brahma x pullet laid her first egg at 25 weeks! Still waiting on the other one. She has done a 180 on the affection factor since too. Calm and sweet as can be now.
Congrats on your first egg! I know how exciting that can be. And thank you for giving me a time frame for mine to start laying.

Which gender of buff brahmas usually feather faster? I have 3 with tails already and 5 without. They are a week old. I know its not a definitive way to tell, I was just curious about what other people have seen.

I'm bummed. I purchased blue partridge eggs on eBay in order to add to my genetics pool. I paid nearly $100 for them! Well, none developed. I contacted the seller who said he would send replacements. He said he put a new rooster in with the hens, so he obviously knew he had fertility problems. He made promises until the 45 days were up that I could open a claim on eBay, and now I have no eggs and no money. When I go back and look at his feedback, I see I'm not the only one with this problem. Darn, darn, darn!

I also purchased chicks from another seller, not on eBay. I purchased 8, received 9, and 3 died. The remaining 6 are all boys. Just my luck!

So much for diversifying my gene pool.
