Wow! What a beautiful flock! I love the mix of buff, red, and barred. Very colorful.

You know, as far as size, I once saw a couple of brahma hens in a poultry show that were ENORMOUS. The largest one looked to be at least twice the size of my wyandotte hen. Very fat. But then I have read elsewhere that they are usually not much bigger than rocks and wyandottes, so it is interesting to hear from you.

Would love to hear from others. Are your standard sized brahma hens a lot bigger than rocks, or pretty similar? How well do they lay?

Also the thing with brahmas are they are slow to mature - they can take up to 18-20 months to be fully grown to "peak" size - so do not make a cost effective meat bird compared to most other breeds (like rocks and wyandottes) that mature and 'peak' at about 8-10 months old.

I think you will notice that brahmas are slow to develop. When your others stop growing, the brahmas will continue to grow. When the flock is a year old the brahmas will be larger.
