Hello!

Barley been a day but I’m back here this time with what I think is a broken leg. I’m not sure I have a silkie chicken her name is Kitty she’s about 3 months old and I walked into the garage this morning to find her acting dead and my barred rock rooster (who isn’t a bantam but we haven’t had any issues until now and I’m not even sure he did it but I’m moving them into separate containers anyways.) standing over/on her I took her out and she couldn’t stand and was kinda acting like we was stubbornly sunbathing without the sun. I picked her up and held her straight but every time I let go she would just lay back down eventually I got her to the point where she figure it out she could stand on her own but she’s all wobbly leaning mostly on her right side and using her left wing for balance by dragging it on the ground. I have her in a separate container now away from everybody else I felt around and the only thing I could tell that feels off is that her left hip bone is a little more away from her hip-socket than her right hip is. I felt her silkie sibling and her right hip feels normal when compared to the silkie who isn’t having any trouble. What do I do here? I could technically take her to a vet to get x-rayed but the vet here is extremely pricey and while he does know his stuff and has seen chickens and other farm animals before he’s super busy and it’s more likely for me to get one of the transfer vets from out of state who hasn’t seen farm animals before. Im not sure what to do here I have some supplies and I could go out and get more but im not sure what to get all videos of people helping their chickens with bad legs/hips don’t seem to be similar situations.

She’s eating and drinking fine and pooping but she’s not as vocal as she normally is. I’ve moved her so she’s by me and I have a friend at the house helping me but we are both not sure what is up.

Can she move her legs? Are the toes curled? Three months old is within the prime time for Marek’s disease to show up, but there are also many possible other causes of those symptoms.
She can move her legs and the only time her toes get curled is when she almost falls and curls them while she’s trying to sit up. Other then her leg she’s showing no signs of illness. Since I’ve posted this she’s also falling down less and is able to mostly keep her balance.

Could it be dislocated? If the hip socket feels off on one side, that might be the case. It could be a break as well, but my first thought would be dislocation.
I thought about that though I’m not sure what a dislocated chicken leg looks like I’ll look up some pictures. Her legs keep slipping forward no matter what surface she’s on

After looking at some pictures it does look like it could be dislocation. If it is what should I do for her?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I would have to let someone who has actually had a chicken with a dislocated leg answer, since I don't have any experience with this kind of situation.

If it is dislocated, it would have to be put back in place in order for her to heal properly. I would think she would then need to rest as much as possible for a bit to let any swelling go down. That is what I would do if I was dealing with something like that, anyway.

I will let others with more experience add on, though.

First of all, treat for shock. You would be amazed how many times a chicken with a leg injury gets miraculously better after treating for shock which can often produce lameness all on its own. Give her a cup of tepid water with one teaspoon sugar stirred in.

Give her time to drink it, and then see how she is. Chances are she will have more strength and will try to stand. This is when you can make a more accurate appraisal of her possible injuries.

Note her stance. Is one leg splayed out to the side? Or is she holding it up under her belly? Feel both legs all along the length. Check for differences between them. This will tell you if something is out of place or if there is swelling and where the swelling is.

I agree with @azygous
Treat for shock.

She's also a Silkie or crested bird, so it may be a good idea to also give 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily to help her through trauma.

Be sure she's able to see, if necessary, trim the feathers away from her eyes.
I’m about to trim the feathers away from her eyes and her siblings’ eyes, I can’t find any tablets only gels. When I eventually find tablets how should I give her the Vitamin E and B-Complex?
