Pippin is doing such a great job. Teaching them to eat, keeping them warm and picking dirt, food and bedding out of their feathers!
I don't think Pippin will leave the nest until that last egg has hatched; she's too determined. So I will take it away this afternoon and incubate it myself

We are at 6 babies this morning. 3 eggs left. Sister hen is a week behind but going strong w 4 eggs. Poe also decided to start acting broody yesterday. We will see if she keeps it up.

It certainly is. After my chicken Harriet hatched her eggs another chicken Aphrodite, who we thought we had broken of her broodiness, decided to go broody again and jumped into the box where Harriet and her chicks are . She has since adopted one of Harriets checks and claimed it as her own. Now they’re doing a sort of coparenting thing.I am making sure that they both get enough food and water they both seem pretty happy with each other and they don’t fight.
