Broody Nora's New Babies! Pics! ~ ~NEW pics post #43~~

They are both cuties, but you are right, Chipper is a bird of a different feather- it will be interesting to see how he turns out!

Why did they all have to be boys, though?

I asked DH which one of the boys would he want to keep if we did keep one and he said probably Chipper. He's super friendly, both he and Bandit, and the little BR boy is getting less skittish by the day. Why do I love the roosters so much, dang it! I wish I could keep all three.

I know- I keep staring at Boo and Ivan and wondering how I can make this work. . . . . .

Here they are, the three amigos, Bandit, Chipper and as-yet-unnamed pure BR cockerel. Bandit and the BR will be finding new homes soon, I hope. We picked Chipper to keep for awhile and see how he develops. They're 4 weeks old.

Way too cute- I can't wait to see what Chipper ends up looking like-
Bandit's eye's are almost scary- if he keeps that he is going to be one cool looking roo!

I'm worried about Nora. She is slower, sits quite a bit. I picked her up and she is completely skin and bones. She gives almost all the feed to the chicks, who are now 4 weeks old. Made up a mix of eggs, oatmeal, yogurt and a pinch of Avia Charge 2000, a vitamin/mineral supplement for avian species. The heat, plus her body being depleted from her broody spell, and all the activity watching out for her babies may be getting to her.

Cynthia, I have the same worry about Harriet- she gives it all to the chicks- I am starting to hope I can take them away from her at 5 weeks or so- she is so skinny- I am going to try your recipe today, and put some Poly Vi Sol in there, it's all I have.

Panda does weird stuff herself lately. She'll flare up, then suddenly duck her head and run backwards. It's like she's seeing things. They both need to get back into proper shape soon. I hate taking the babies, but it may be necessary to put the babies in the Firetower together and put both moms back with the flock.
