Bugs & Problems With The New Platform

Did a little experiementing tonight. When I turn off Java scripting the keyboard pops up just find and I can type in the reply box BUT when I SUBMIT nothing happens or I get an error message "We're sorry, but there's been an error in our system, and we can't complete your request. Please report this error to us, using our feed back system. Thanks!" "Message: Page not found:Argument 'id' was not passed to the query string."

Hope this helps the administrators narrow things down. The Kindle Fire runs an Amazon browser version 1.1.0-84. Thanks.

SAME problem HERE!

I really hope they try to fix it for us...

Thanks for all the great feedback and bug reports. Sorry I haven't been updating the first post... been trying to just keep up on all the stuff and reporting it / explaining it to the engineers.

I just went to the coop section and adds are covering part of the choices, you can't get to large coops or brooders unless there is a way to minemize the adds.

Thanks! I just tested and when the screen resolution is below a certain width that happens. We've got it on our todo list.

Just ran into an odd one. I posted a link to an online newspaper article about backyard chickens: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/619483/favorable-article-chicago-tribune#post_8235802

I copied the article title and subtitle from the newspaper site and pasted them into the post. I didn't like the formatting, so I went into source and cleaned out just about everything except font size tags (h1 type tags). In the edit window it shows the headline as underlined, but in the preview window and actual post it isn't underlined. In edit it shows the subheader as black, but when posted it is red. Preview doesn't match the actual post, and I can't see anything in source that would apply the color or change the underline.

In this screen cap you see the edit window and the preview window.

Thanks! We've noticed that too and will see what we can do.

There are more "bugs" reported on this thread that are not on your list in post #1. Do you want us to continue reporting them if they are not on your list?

We've got records of all the bugs / issues posted in this thread, but yes, please keep reporting any new bugs in this thread.

on the BYC home page, the feed for recent BYC activity, it used to show recent posts in the forum, now it shows ANY activity, such as when someone changes their location or comments on a breed review. not sure if thats a bug or not, who sets what you want to see in that feed? the user or BYC? seems like a waste of resources to make a location change front page news. I do like to skim thru the feed for recent posts, find some really interesting info that way :)

I haven't seen this reported, but it probably has been. I get this everytime I come to BYC. It doesn't seem to do anything, but kind of odd. I just ignore it and log in.

Make sure you have only forums selected. It is right under the activity title and before the first post. It is kinda hard to tell what is selected and what is not.

FYI- the unread posts button/icon, to the left of the threads. Looks like a cartoon dialogue box with a green arrow. It is sometimes taking me to random posts in the threads not always to the first unread post.

ie, I just clicked it on this thread a couple minutes ago and it took me to post #2.

The bolding when there are new posts and dimming when there are not seems to be 100% good.

AHA!!! Thank You, that fixed it. I somehow clicked on some other buttons and did not quite get that you could pick what you wanted to see. thank you again!!

Rob, on the hover menu on the Brown Forum Tab:

#1 Can you eliminate the very first small font option, "Forums"? It's redundant, as the tab on which one is hovering IS THE SAME DESTINATION!!
#2 Also, can you reorder the remaining three to put I've Posted first? I'm partial!!

That's my favorite way to navigate and continue conversations.

I agree about the I've Posted. I've even bookmarked that page as my launch page for BYC. It makes it so much easier to follow discussions.

As to the "forums" item, that is only redundant when you are in the forums home page. I suspect the code is set up as a style sheet div, so the same piece of code is used on all forum pages, including the forum home page. That makes site maintenance and upgrades much easier- if they have a separate piece of code for just the home page, it increase the work whenever they change things. Both templates will need to have code changes and full testing before they can go live with any change. If that is how its set up, it's safer to leave it there.
