Bugs & Problems With The New Platform

UPDATE: I can enter as a member and post and use some of the features only from AOLbut not from IE9, though it does say that I am logged in but I can't use any features or post and alter my profile...Does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't know if this is fixed yet but this is the second time that I've been able to post so I'd better take advantage in case I can't later and give you my experience with bugs.
I've been logged in but have had only guest status without the capability to post or use any of the features. I still can't hover over the brown links and get a list drop down and many other features are still not available to me but being on here and posting is a step up! Thanks and hope to catch up to you all.

I have browsed through and didn't see this in the random pages that I looked at. I am using Win7 64 bit with IE8 and have found the new layout is preventing me from using my browser's back button. Every time that I navigate to a new post it seems to load a bunch of googleads and when I hit the back button nothing happens. If I hit the dropdown for the navigation I can see the multiple googleads, but even then sometimes the origin page is not accessible. Pretty much it makes browsing the forums and looking at the posts a pain in my rear. I won't check back in this thread for a reply due to the number of posts so if more is needed please PM me.

OK hope its not a problem but I'm gonna put 2 in one post.

1) I can't find the user/member list that we had before. Is it gone?
2) I can't seem to access (individual) user pages.

Thanks to Nifty and all the staff working so hard to make this wonderful site so much better ! ! !

I tried to respond to a post using "quote." I had just done the same on the thread to a few other posts with no problems. However on https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/526271/partridge-silkies-nothing-else/2500 post 2503 the reply box has an empty quote box that is not on 2503 and later leaves off part a quote from one of my earlier posts that should be there. FWIW, the "multi" box is darkened on the reply box, but I never used it. (I do not understand how to--the directions and working --I did try--are confusing)

This is with regard to broken links on the Frequently Asked Questions page. There are a number of links that lead to System Errors or just pop the user back to the forum index. I reported a number of these using the feedback link on the page that gave the system error. I gave the urls, the specific questions and the result. Today I received an email in response to one of the broken links that led to a page with the answer, which is fine, but the link is still broken on the FAQ page.

Here is an example: One of the broken links was to the question: What is a Golden Feather Member? Clicking on the Answer link led to a System Error page.

I, myself, did not really need the answers to all the questions for which I reported the broken links, but once I found one, I checked others and reported more that were broken. My intention was not to be given an individual answer to the question that the broken answer link would have led to, but rather to be helpful in reporting these broken links so that all others looking for those answers could find them.

Hope that makes sense.

Was trying to submit a response to Ordinances proposed in Georgia, It was I think a 3 paragraphsand it kept spinning and spinning, after 20 minutes I gave up....But before i signed on again iin a separate window for BYC and it was up..... I've actually had the exact same thing happen quite a number of times, but not here- it was in an entirely different forum running on a different software platform. It seemed to have to do with the forum having too much visitor load for the platform/hosting service/software to process all at once, and they had to scale up on their hosting service (they run on amazon cloud) to get rid of the problem. I think the forum software also needed to be tweaked to handle huge loads in that case.

After reading through 24 pages I was hoping someone had a solution for the Kindle Fire Problem.  I can read and navigate but I cannot post.  My keyboard does not pop up when I click in the reply box.  I have tried full page editor with no difference.  I figured how to force my keyboard open on the Kindle but the typing does not appear in the reply box.

Okay I think I found the solution to the Kindle fire issue. I went to my profile on BYC, edit account details and changed the prefered editor to bb code editor...it works for both Redhen and me so it's worth a shot.

ETA: if this causes other problems I haven't found them yet so let us know
