But I don't want a cat. pg3-Graphic pics. Pg 1, last update.

We do not have animal control & I had been trying to find him a new home with no success-I called & networked all across the country but my country has a massive feral cat problem & no one would take him. I did not "keep him around", he was dumped here totally feral & I was slowly taming him. I was debating taking him in because once I take an animal, I look after them properly & take the bad with the good. When I decided to keep him, before anything happened with the dog, I assumed all responsibility for him & made peace with my hair issues. If I had decided not to keep him, then I would have had the vet just put him down. Now he is inside & will not be going outside again so he safe from all dogs & the chicken is caged so he cant hurt her. She will probably bite him if he comes close anyway, she took a chunk out of me yesterday. My dog is also crated when I'm not home so everyone will be fine.

If that was the case, don't you wish you would have taken him home when you made that choice? BEFORE the dog attack? I am glad that you have assumed responsilbility and made peace with your hair issues. I hope the kitty is happy there.

Geez, you guys need to read what Danischi actually wrote before jumping all over her for not making the right decisions! She only made the decision to take him in that night and in the morning (when she was going to put the plan in action) the injuries had already happened!

I feel for you, Dani. Just bad luck that the dog found the poor kitty just before you were going to bring him into your home. I hope he is recovering okay and warms up to you after the pain is gone. Animals in pain often are stand-offish.

My grandmother had dairy cows, pigs & chickens. She never had barn cats either, for the same reasons as you.... Her dogs killed every single cat she ever got. Her dogs were hunting dogs, most loving dogs to the family, just not cats or other small animals, except for my Grandma's chickens, they never harmed the chickens!

I read what she wrote-
and I understood that the dog attack happened before she took him home. I wasnt talking about that. i was talking about the fact that everyone else chose to ignore- the fact that she despises animal hair to the point she rehomed a chinese crested hairless dog- and everyone is ignoring that and telling her to bring the cat home- (to a house where she has a dog that does not like cats- and is hairless and a featherless chicken that she expressed concern for- in the event that the kitten grabs it, the chicken could become injured).

If animal hair makes her sick, grosses her out, etc...all the kitten cuteness in the world isnt going to change that over-night.

Her AHT as far as I read has no problem with cats it's the dogs on the farm where she works.

Yeah, the dog isn't mine. I wish all the dogs here would drop down dead. Many of the chained ones would kill me if they broke loose, nevermind a cat but that's a different story. They are guard dog after all. My AHT likes to play with cats but she chases them & that's why I say that she isn't good with them. However, she's crated when I'm not home & will get used to the cat with time anyway. She had a cat that was her best friend at the job I had before this. The chicken is caged so no pouncing threats & anything stupid enough to sit on her cage will get badly bitten.
I just wanted to vent all my worries & thoughts before taking on a new animal that wasn't on my wanted list but now I've made my decision & he will be well looked after. If I can find him a more cat friendly home once he's better, he will go but otherwise he's stuck with me rather than being dead & I'll try my best for him.
