If that was the case, don't you wish you would have taken him home when you made that choice? BEFORE the dog attack? I am glad that you have assumed responsilbility and made peace with your hair issues. I hope the kitty is happy there.

I feel for you, Dani. Just bad luck that the dog found the poor kitty just before you were going to bring him into your home. I hope he is recovering okay and warms up to you after the pain is gone. Animals in pain often are stand-offish.

My grandmother had dairy cows, pigs & chickens. She never had barn cats either, for the same reasons as you.... Her dogs killed every single cat she ever got. Her dogs were hunting dogs, most loving dogs to the family, just not cats or other small animals, except for my Grandma's chickens, they never harmed the chickens!

Her AHT as far as I read has no problem with cats it's the dogs on the farm where she works.

Yeah, the dog isn't mine. I wish all the dogs here would drop down dead. Many of the chained ones would kill me if they broke loose, nevermind a cat but that's a different story. They are guard dog after all. My AHT likes to play with cats but she chases them & that's why I say that she isn't good with them. However, she's crated when I'm not home & will get used to the cat with time anyway. She had a cat that was her best friend at the job I had before this. The chicken is caged so no pouncing threats & anything stupid enough to sit on her cage will get badly bitten.
I just wanted to vent all my worries & thoughts before taking on a new animal that wasn't on my wanted list but now I've made my decision & he will be well looked after. If I can find him a more cat friendly home once he's better, he will go but otherwise he's stuck with me rather than being dead & I'll try my best for him.
