Buying Baytril - Buyer Beware

We have a flock of egg layers that has slowly diminished from 19 to 12. I have used Corid because the feed store recommended it and then tetracycline because that was also recommended. Went to a Vet yesterday and was disappointed in the visit, she does not do flock therapy! Gave me enough Baytril for 3 birds, and said to find more on the internet somewhere. Charge for her "services" $243. So, where do I get Baytril online "somewhere."? Please help.

This Baytril is 100mg/ml, what did the vet sell you?

The easiest way, EBAY... Search for 'enrofloxacin' and make sure to get the stuff in the injectable bottle as pictured in the first post...

But, beware it's going to take weeks to arrive, may I suggest you hit up the yellow pages and start calling local vets, and explain your situation until you and find one that is more responsible, compassionate and willing to actually provide your animals the care you are paying for, this will allow you to get a script ASAP... And there is IMO zero reason a vet should be such a hard nose about prescribing an antibiotic for livestock use, it's not like it's a scheduled drug...

Wow, I guess that was the last money she will get out of you? Must be why she charges so much... no repeat customers

Sounds like she was wholly inappropriate and they should have let you know when you made the appointment and explained your problem to the receptionist. Telling someone to get a prescription-only drug "on the internet somewhere" is .... well, I don't have words for that. Unprofessional, let's start with that one.

If you can convince the office to get you a written prescription (seems like for $243, that's a reasonable expectation), you can easily buy Baytril from a variety of places online that do animal medications, and you can do some comparison shopping. The prescription is the hold up, since it's an Rx-only med. As Kathy said, you can get it from a few places without the prescription, but it's helpful to have it.

The last bottle of Baytril I bought shipped from Oakland CA and was here in one day... No reason it should take more than a few days to arrive if you buy from a place with shipping options.

Also searh for enfloxil, lots of places sell that.

Are they all sick or do they get sick one at a time? trying to figure out why you are treating the entire flock did the vet say what they had and if it was contagious?

Caution, graphic pictures.
So the Vet said that this is Megabacteria,to be treated with Baytril. I looked in the microscope and there were large curvy lines, but after looking online, Megabacteria is "rod" like and not a bacteria but a fungal. So now I don't think the Vet actually knows. It looks like the poop-diahrea burns off the feathers and it obviously affects the vent. The chickens do not go down quickly, but do finally succome and die. There are more than three chickens that are currently affected. The black one died yesterday. The pictures are over a week old.

She gave me 66 MG that was $108 of the charge. I tried to post pictures of the chickens but they are not loading.

She said that is was Megabateria, I looked in the microscope and there were definitely a lot of stuff there. They were long and curvy. When I looked online at Megabateria they are "rod" like and it is now not considered a bacteria but instead a fungus. So I don't think she actually knows.
Our symptoms start with a bloody vent and progresses to an irritated and swollen vent and the poop/diarrhea eats or burns the feathers off, obviously some acidic poop. They still lay eggs. Even though they look awful, they don't act sick. And then they die. This started several months ago.
