BYC Café

In my high school years, when a guy asked me out for a "soda." It turned out to be a coke. What?? To me a soda conjured up something with ice cream in it. Coke was called pop. Decided right there and then, I probably would never understand male lingo.

I think the soda vs. pop thing is regional. Growing up in the Midwest, we had "pop". Down here it's "soda". And DH is from the NE, he's always called it "soda".

Those weather people must be real sure that we are getting a lot of rain, the forecast is 100% chance of rain 4 to 9 inches total over the next 5 days.

Scott, when did you move to north FL?

It's been so wet here, the ball cap DH left on the porch table got mold on it after 2 days.

That's how your mind works. your brain is ice cream driven.
Let's try an experiment. If I said 'cone', what would you say?

A geometric figure, or ice cream?

I am leaning towards ice cream, but my son would think geometric figure and be all perplexed as to why we needed to get in the car for that. ( that really happened.-he was five..)

on the subject of coke, pop, and soda.. any soda was a coke when I was little. My parents used it interchangeably.
It wasn't until I asked for a coke when I was sick and my grandparents brought me cola -when I was expecting something like grape soda, that I figured maybe mom was messing with me. further north in the state, the other side of the family always had Pepsi. any soda was Pepsi.
My friend from the Middle part of some place norther than us, called all soda a shasta. We thought she came from a different planet.

My homepage is the NOAA point forecast for my location, because elevation is everything! The Weather Channel is junk and so are the local channels, but I don't have TV, so......
Traffic cones all the way baby and a sodie is whatever lands in my hand, preferably a Wild Cherry Pepsi, but I rarely have a soda-pop anyway.
Scott, that sounds awful for your rain totals. We are supposed to get some wonderful rain here to help with the fire danger, phew!
I think it is time to coffee-up and get on with the day. Time change in a month......
