BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Cindy.
I got the new sliding glass door in which was a bear. We had to reframe the RO but BIL and I got it done. He got a little pale in the face when I asked him to tackle installing the door handle :p. He's not very skilled at building but being the polar opposite of useless nephew (who shall henceforth be dubbed UN) he was going to darn well give it a go. And he did it!
I ran into stumbling blocks installing the wall sconces which has been the norm with all electrical work I've done in this house since I started working on it so no surprise there. I hope to at least have those lights up and most if not all of the accessories up today along with some siding.

Last night before leaving, I showed UN where I needed more of the old siding removed so I could get one of the outside corner posts on. It's approximately 6" wide by the height of the wall. It shouldn't take more than 1 hour to strip off but that's an hour I can be doing the stuff others cannot. He said, "I have to work tomorrow".
Oh yeah?
I asked, "When do you have to be there?"
He answered "3:00". As in P.M.
My jaw dropped. He couldn't be lazier if he tried.

apple sauce is the traditional accompaniment with roast pork here
Yep, Mom always had apple sauce with pork roast or chops.
I just cut up an apple into ~1/2" chunks, add some water and a titch of dark brown sugar and simmer until tender. Then pile it on chops with drizzles of BBQ sauce.

You guys are giving me a hankering for pork chops with cooked apples!!!

I've been wanting to go to a local apple orchard that DH and I have visited in the past. One of my favorite eating apples is the Macoun. This orchard also has a very overpriced gift shop and a very well priced Cafe with all homemade food. Tremendous! It's called the Apple Dumpling Cafe! I'm hoping to squeeze a drop of time out of my crazy schedule to make a trip up there one morning. They also have outdoor seating so Bella and Skittles can come.

'Kid' needs a :smack
It doesn't seem to get through. BIL is constantly on him about his laziness and inappropriate comments. His best advice to date was telling him 'you need to get a full time job, with benefits, go to work 5 minutes early every day, do whatever they tell you to do and keep your mouth SHUT'.
BIL and I were discussing him yesterday on the drive out to get the new door. BIL informed me that UN is terrified of me! :lau Well sorry if I'm never going to take one atom of your crap, bud. That's just me. I will always say it how it is. And with him, subtly does not work.

After I'd finished wrapping the rear of the house, that was the only thing covering the 60" x 80" opening where the sliding glass door went. I just calmly said as I was leaving for the night, "I hope no one gets raped or pillaged".

UN told BIL what I said and BIL laughed. UN then complained to BIL because 'how come she can make jokes but I can't?". BIL then informed him he needs to stop trying to make jokes because they aren't funny and are usually insulting. Apparently when I'd asked for help, his "NO" was supposed to be a funny joke.

JUST DO IT ! Make the time for yourself. Seriously, you deserve it.

Today is 'repaired window install' day.
Got out a better ladder(flat rungs) and made it work, that will make it all much less painful.
Might 'fix' the rotting sill too.

Fact, my body is hurting from simply moving a ladder around and cleaning windows yesterday. SMH

I want to pull a Nike and 'Just Do It' but I HAVE to have that house sided before the insurance agent comes out to take pictures or mom will lose her house insurance again.
And I have a contractor lined up to help with my front porch. Three years overdue. It also MUST be done. But once he's done his share and the ball is back in my court, I will likely do just that and take DH to the Apple Dumpling Cafe for a nice breakfast or lunch. It will likely be too cold to bring the doggos by then but if we have a conveniently timed Indian summer...

Just moving the ladder?.....and climbing it...... and washing windows.
No wonder!

Got the window screwed back in place, kinda funky, a good inch out of flat...
...but could be framing is out of whack, it was before too, glad I used plexiglass.
Will now sheath rotting sill with sheet metal.
