Good morning all. Welcome, Kelsey.
We get fresh hive honey on our waffles this morning!

of course, if the waffle maker doesn't get his waffling in gear they will be lunch.

DH and I were driving into town today to get new tires for the riding mower - noticed as we were passing one of the neighbor places they were out working in/on their hives, the idea of beekeeping fascinates me, but I also have a ridiculous fear of bees so I think it will have to stay an idea.

Morning Peeps!
We have less than a foot of the new snow left. Melting fast! There are streams everywhere, all heading downhill from here....
All of the lambing equipment has shipped, like the OB gloves and the iodine, etc. Stuff that I do not have on hand...,

, Between the chickens and horses and kids, you would think I wouldn't need anything; except maybe a clone. I think I could still use a clone. I don't need any helper monkeys, had 4 of those and they cause more mayhem than the clones could ever keep up with!!
Need more coffee! Chore time...
Oh, lambing time is so exciting! Had to smile at the clone idea - ever see the movie "Multiplicity" with Michael Keaton?

I never had to help with lambing. They pretty much handled it all.
If it is cold when they come you will need to dry them off quickly, but that is all you might need to do.

My only suggestion is to have some lamba milk replacer on hand- or goats milk ( you can buy the canned milk it lasts longer) and a bottle. baby bottles work fine but you will need to make the opening bigger.
If the moms have problems letting their milk down It might be a necessity. I hope not because bottle feeding lambs is only cute for the first week.

We had an ewe that ALWAYS had twins and NEVER let her milk down.
I miss bottle babies!

Thank you all for the welcomes!
Hello Henny! What kind of goats do you have? I find goats so adorable and entertaining

We have two Boer goat wethers. They are so sweet and very entertaining! We were actually going to be getting LaManchas but they aren't very popular where we live so that's how we ended up getting Boers. I love them!
Goats are awesome -- I think a lot of people underestimate their intelligence and write them off without ever getting to know them, they are super smart and fun to work with (well, most of them, lol, have known some pills in my time)
Excellent song - and from one of my favorite musicals

Some people give goats the short end of the deal, but they are actually very smart and caring! I have come across some "challenges" before though.

I think you are right, people just dismiss them as weird or creepy or whatever (for my dad its the eyes) but they seem great. Plus some people train them to pack and i even knew of one who trained tricks.

I am the same way about bees, beekeeping seems like a neat idea but I'm terrified.

Awesome! I never really considered Boers much but then had them suggested a time or two so may look into them again. I was considering Nigerian Dwarfs or dairy goat wethers. I think if I ever got them it would be dairy goat or boer wethers. I mostly want pets and brush clearing. Really anything would fit that bill lol

And yes, most people never give them a chance. Or fall for cute kids then theu grow up "creepy"

We usually get up to Marquette once a month. DH make the rounds at Menards and Lowes and I head to Michaels and TJ Maxx. We usually eat somewhere downtown....many moons ago DH went to college at NMU. He shows me all sorts of neat things in Marquette. Once a summer we head out to Presque Isle, such a beautiful area.

We still would like to get to the Porkies and see Lake of the Clouds.

Isn't Marquette a wonderful town... I've had the privilege to work there for almost thirty years.... Most people couple only hope to live and work on such a place. Growing up in the Detroit area the one thing I loved about Marquette is the pride people take in my fair city. Presque Isle is a nice gem of a city park.... Right in town.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone! Definitely a nice assortment of animals, we love them. Though of course I'm always wanting more animals. :p my current wishes are more chickens or goats. But I do love the ones we have, these are our first chickens.

Anyways, how is everyone today!? We are making some great progress on the new coop, finished the roof today.

And don't worry about it Phil, i fell asleep lol

Yeah.... I've been known to do that...
