Good morning all. Welcome, Kelsey.
We get fresh hive honey on our waffles this morning!![]()
of course, if the waffle maker doesn't get his waffling in gear they will be lunch.
DH and I were driving into town today to get new tires for the riding mower - noticed as we were passing one of the neighbor places they were out working in/on their hives, the idea of beekeeping fascinates me, but I also have a ridiculous fear of bees so I think it will have to stay an idea.
Oh, lambing time is so exciting! Had to smile at the clone idea - ever see the movie "Multiplicity" with Michael Keaton?Morning Peeps!
We have less than a foot of the new snow left. Melting fast! There are streams everywhere, all heading downhill from here....
All of the lambing equipment has shipped, like the OB gloves and the iodine, etc. Stuff that I do not have on hand...,, Between the chickens and horses and kids, you would think I wouldn't need anything; except maybe a clone. I think I could still use a clone. I don't need any helper monkeys, had 4 of those and they cause more mayhem than the clones could ever keep up with!!![]()
Need more coffee! Chore time...
I miss bottle babies!I never had to help with lambing. They pretty much handled it all.
If it is cold when they come you will need to dry them off quickly, but that is all you might need to do.
My only suggestion is to have some lamba milk replacer on hand- or goats milk ( you can buy the canned milk it lasts longer) and a bottle. baby bottles work fine but you will need to make the opening bigger.
If the moms have problems letting their milk down It might be a necessity. I hope not because bottle feeding lambs is only cute for the first week.
We had an ewe that ALWAYS had twins and NEVER let her milk down.
