I can't quite tell what spooked them. Maybe a hawk. Nothing can get at them when locked in the run and I hadn't gotten out to feed them and open the run door when this happened.
The difference in reactions between the hens and the pullets is interesting.
But notice who does NOT go running for cover.

Thanks for the advice IM. Just got back from the club - soaking wet with perspiration - an hour of work was much as the two dogs I took wanted. Truck thermometer said 90 F already. I long ago decided that if temperatures that high or higher are predicted my dogs and I are not going anywhere.

Yes sir, with humidity on top of those temps it must be horrid outside.

We hit 115 yesterday but it's cooling down today, only 109.

All that beautiful greenery keeps drawing my eye and I forget to watch the chickens.

Is it an illusion my old eyes are creating or did something grayish colored hit the fence from the outside ?

I know what you mean. About the only green we have around here are the cottonwood trees around the golf course. And right now they are shedding their "cotton". It's allergy season, yay :sick

I thought I saw the same but I wasn't sure if it was one of the chickens on the inside jumping in fright or if it was from the outside. Way up there on the top left?
