I have a question. I have been going through my yarn pile and am wondering what is the average square that most ppl would use? I want to know so when I start on my swap squares I would like an idea on what everyone would prefer. I know its saposed to be up to me to decide but I would prefer to make them in a size that most ppl would be able to get the most use out of. As long as its between 6 - 12 inches right?
What size are the rest of yall going to make them? Any one decided yet?

Scoot's gotten 1/2 of hers from me. hehehe
How bout one of those vinyl tablecloths for a tree skirt. Tie some bells under the branches of the trees, you'll have cute holiday sounds too. hehe OH and turn some crafty knob on, and arrange a manger scene in the brooder under the tree. hehehehe Then of course, post pics!!!

Algo, 6inches seems to be the average for swaps that I have seen, but with how crafty these ladies are, I am sure they could do just about anything with a shape that is between 6 to 12 inches.

I am mostly writing to respond to the fact that you gals almost have me convinced that I need to do the Chick-mas Tree!!!

I am saposed to be cleaning my messy house (thanks to Isaac) but instead I just went exploring on this site and read for the first time about Bramah chickens but I think i got the spelling wrong. They are pretty but how big do the standard ones get? They looked huge.

Quote:
Brahmas get pretty decent size. About 9-12 pounds at full maturity.
We have a brahma/aracauna mix and he's huge..his lady friend, stoogie is maybe about 7-8 lbs. They're almost 2 years old.Handheld's breasts put mine to shame.hehehe

Wow they are almost small turkeys! I think I bought a turkey around that size at Kroger this year. lol

Next question since I seem to be full of them today...
I didn't join in time to be a part of the secret santa this year but if we do it next year (planning to be around here that long) what kinds of gifts do yall normally send? I saw a pic or 2 but was wondering if there were any rules.

I love the chick-mas tree.
do do it!
I've been reading the posts to keep up while baking cranberry breads. I have 1 full size loaf done 3 mini loafs and 3 more in the oven and another batch ready to go in. Then I have to run to the market for more supplies deli meat and cheese for a platter I'm putting together for art class holiday party tomorrow and back home to bake choc chip cookies to go with the breads in baskets with handmade soaps (I bought off another BYC'er) and dishcloths I crocheted.
And I hate driving at night but it can't be helped.

hee hee. I will see if I can convince Mark. Hannah is already convinced. We won't have our tree until this weekend. I don't know if I can handle the cleaning in the house that we have to do before we get the darn thing. And really, I am not sure if we have room for the tree except on or in the Brooder anyway.

Algo, the only rule that the SS had was the deadline and the fact that the gift had to be homemade.

They are all really wonderful so far. I think we might do either a Secret Easter Bunny or a Santa in July exchange in 2009, so you can get in on that one.

Oh and I was wondering if there has ever been a yarn swap? I was looking at yarn today and I am going to have some lovely homemade things and already have some, and finding yarn to match something someone has done in another part of the country seems to be quite the quest. I know we can match names and whatever, but I don't seem to have the same colors as the rest of you in any of my craft stores and well...I hate to admit it, but I *won't* shop at Wal-mart. The ones around here have mostly closed their craft sections are simply horrible to even think about entering through the doors (totally chaotic zoos.) So, I am limited to Michaels and JoAnns and occasionally Hancock Fabrics (the last of a dying breed) and sometimes I get lucky at the dollar store.

Purr, I hate driving at night too. *shudder* That bread and stuff sounds really yummy though. I am really hungry!
