the top of this where it tells you to choose breeds does nothing...what's its purpose?

It does do nothing. Maybe it helps you remember what the parents are? (My best guess)

I guess? But Qt is primarily for compact widget design.. one might find it is TOO user friendly and too simple for the complexities of genetics.. at least html programming could give you the option of a custom designed website that you could code button to solution with manually. I would argue Qt is less manual than other options..
