Hmmm... for now starting with only what is in the SOP makes sense.

It would be nice to add in the mutts too at some point. But not likely realistic at the beginning.

I think we could eventually add birds outside the Standard like European and Australian Standard birds, but mutts seem like too much complicated messy mess mess.

We mustn't add the landraces, just the Standard breeds. And certainly don't add Easter Eggers, since they are mixes with no guiding traits, not even the egg color.

Explain to me what Landraces are.

You can figure out the offspring of two parents. For example, my Am roo over an Australorp hen. But EEs are impossible to figure out the parentage of. Some of them are years and years and years and years and years and decades and decades and decades of crosses of mutts of mutts of mutts of mutts. And some of them are Marans and Legbars, not even hardly looking like your average EE at all.

Actually.... since it is a calculator of what you would get if you crossed 2 different breeds. Then anything crossed with a pure chicken that lays blue eggs. Would be classified as an EE right? Most of the mutt offspring wouldnt have nanes but they would thats all.

I completely agree, it would be impossible to include EE's, their varieties are more than all things under the sun.

Explain to me what Landraces are.

Swedish Flower Hens. Icelandics. Any "breed" that is barnyard fowl that come from a certain place with no standard idea of what they look like or anything.

I said you can understand the offspring of a cross between two breeds, like my Am and Australorp, and make educated guesses about that, but the parentage.... nope

Hey @Cyprus , are we going to include a genetic preset for each breed and variety as well??

I can't speak for certain on that. I'm not the OP and I don't wish to take over @Feather Hearts idea.
To my understanding, the idea is to create a calculator in which the user can select a parent breed or cross and cross that parent with another parent. The parents could be of two separate breeds. The intention is so that the user can see what the possible outcomes are for the offspring.
So, in summary yes, there should be genetic presets for each breed. As to whether or not each breed will have the genetic presets of each color variety I do not know. As of now, I am thinking of making presets for each breed, and within that breed each SOP recognized color variety so that the user can select a parent breed with a specific color variety.

Of course, to keep in line with the original idea, there would have to be an option to select parent birds with certain color traits or patterns that are not connected to a set breed so that a user can cross two parent birds with different genotypes to determine offspring possibilities in terms of color and pattern.

My spreadsheet, as of now, is taking note of physical traits (excepting color; that genetics will be taken down later independent of breed) for each breed so that we can determine what will result in crossing different breeds, I.E # of toes, skin color, eye color, crested, muffs, beards, etc

Uh really? I thought part of the idea was to know mixes too. I mean EEs are their own thing, but so many people are sold EEs as ameraucanas that having them included in this would help anyone checking know what theyre looking at before they buy them. I mean they are still a chicken with a name. It might be hard to figure out genetics for them seeing as how they are created by crossing breeds together, but so are a lot of birds.

I will not be including a preset of "Easter Egger" for a parent bird due to unpredictable genetic diversity. However, the user can create an Easter Egger offspring, and select that offspring to continue with.
