the pigment actually went through the membrane! you can see the speckles on the right side on the membrane that's been pulled back.

this one had speckles too, but the inner shell, was tan not white.



From the size of the aircells on these eggs I would estimate they are all at least a week old. possibly older.

The genetics mini series has a link to a discussion on pigment coloring the whole shell. I'm going to get an account on there to see if it will let me view it. And see if anyone has an theory's on why it's happening.

I have to go.
I will be dating my eggs from now on and checking/cracking them to see if I can determine about when I notice the color change on the inside of the shell. I have not seen this before.
 
yeah. even my store ones are being weird. one thing I didn't think to check was how porous the eggs were before I opened them. maybe try candling them first and see if there's lots of light spots too.
I think they are see through so the light shines through the brown. That happened with my eggs also.
