Mabey how important is it that you get eggs from your chickens.
Potential options
.Very important, I buy production breeds, use artificial lighting, and get rid of them after they aren't strong layers anymore.
.Somewhat important, I buy production breeds, but do not use any lighting or cull older birds.
.It's a nice benefit, but I don't really mind them going broody, or pausing laying.

Just a thought.

Another poll idea: What do you do if a chickens / other poultry gets seriously injured or sick?

• Visit a vet
• Ask on a forum what it is and what to do
• Wait and see
• Take her/him into the house to quarantine and take care
• Give medicines if I think it might help
• Cull the bird if it looks bad

Hey Everyone!

Sumi did an AMAZING job with the "BYC Breed Focus" project. Peeps especially love that she put links to all the items in one post! This got me to thinking about a kinda similar idea with our "Official BYC Polls".

Here's what we're planning on doing:

1. Our Volunteer Project Managers (VPMs) will be working on creating funteresting (fun + interesting) Official BYC Polls.
2. As these polls are created, we'll be posting links to them here, and also promoting them on the homepage, newsletter, etc.

How about, "Do you keep a rooster? "

This is a great, and fun idea Nifty.

I don't. First, I did have a chick that turned out to be a rooster. I tried very hard to hold him and get him used to me and my contact. No dice. Once he started mounting the hens, like every 2 minutes, I was just horrified. The hens seemed horrified too. Then, when I tried to shoo the hens into the coop one evening, the rooster attacked me from behind. The next day, a neighbor came by to say as a spokesperson to say the neighbors were not too happy with the early crowing and offered to take him to the farm where she worked. I was so happy, I wrote a check and made a donation to the farm.

I was on a page that listed all the polls. I never took any of the polls, so I clicked on them, one by one and took each poll and returned to the list to take another. At the bottom of the list there were 4 or 5 links that did not take me to the poll, but to the poll results.

On top of all pages in the polls you can choose whatever is right for you. After submitting you see the poll results.
Maybe you already made you're choice in the polls and forgot you did?
