Soooo, totally hypothetically speaking, what do yall feed your budgies?
I just fed mine seeds which I know people say isn’t the best BUT mine had a huge flight cage and were constantly moving plus occasionally let out to fly around my apartment so they never got fat LOL I did also try to switch them to pellets at one point and the male literally flung them on the floor, screamed, and then tried starving himself till I caved 😭😭😭

While I understand your reasoning, their activity levels still did not come close to what they'd have if wild, therefore not truly burning off the excess seed fats as they should be able to.
Budgies are very well known to be stubborn diet transitioners, more often than not you've got to be more stubborn and crafty ;)
I could talk for hours on Budgie diet, the thing is no one has a clue what's the best. Everyone has STRONG opinions one way or other. I'll always say do your research and pick/modify/throw together a diet that works for YOUR birds and YOU.

I fed mine the same diet, with the addition of some vegetables here and there. He loved lettuce in particular. I haven't found a good brand of pellets here. He was let out pretty often, but didn't really love it. The more I think of it, it seems to me like budgies really need another budgie. He wasn't super close to me, so he never got to have someone to bond with. I feel like I didn't do right by him for that

Having had bonded pairs, having almost always had a flock. I refuse to ever have a single budgie, they get far too much joy from a birdie friend 🥹. I could never live up to that standard as a replacement!

What brands do you have there?

Yup. People think that budgies are tiny and don't need much flight, but the distances they cover are crazy! I tried making "chop" for mine, but he didn't love it. He preferred eating the lettuce leaf full. I tried a bunch of other veg, some he ate, others he rejected, but nothing compared to lettuce. He's the only parrot I've heard of that hated millet. He never touched it!

Yeah that makes sense. I probably shouldn’t have given up on trying to transition them over and if I’d kept them, I might have tried again at some point. But it did seem to work for them. And thankfully the stores now are feeding them fruits and veggies. But that was after I got mine. So mine weren’t fed that to get used to it unfortunately.
