How odd! You'd think they would WANT everyone's chicks to get better. One said it was worms, one said electroytes would be enough to cure them of whatever it is. Grandma tried to tell them they've been on "Chick Boost" since they've gotten home. The people at Rivertown Feed were kind of rude when I went for Corid, too! Hmm.
I'm having a lousy day. My mom and step dad went home to Portland, OR and someone is coming to buy some of my babies. She sounds very nice, but still...![]()
X2!
Also, Have they been outside enough to get worms?
Bahahaha! First time I've laughed all day! Thanks!it is better to start with corid then treat with worms if that does not help. Cocci will kill them quicker if untreated than the worms
Tell those people at the Feed store![]()

I throw worms above the covered runs. sometimes they get caught a minute till they worm there way off the netting and fall through the holes.LOL! We have dropped a couple of moths into the brooder! It was SOOOOOO funny!

Baha! Second laugh of my day!
I really can't say how much I appreciate all of you guys in the NorCal thread! You've been AMAZING!It's like, church almost, but for chicken people! (intended as a compliment, sorry for any of you who have been hurt by a church... I know I have)![]()
We are happy to help! If they have been out once and are young, they would not have become infected with worms that quickly. The fungus that causes coci is every where. There is even a fungus that causes problems called San Joaquin Fungus that becomes valley fever in People.
Let us know how the do and if the weird poos stop.
Ok the whole worm thing made me snort laugh. hahah! Awesome! How odd! You'd think they would WANT everyone's chicks to get better. One said it was worms, one said electroytes would be enough to cure them of whatever it is. Grandma tried to tell them they've been on "Chick Boost" since they've gotten home.
They were in the yard maybe 5 minutes as I took their photos. Although the two wyandottes haven't had their photos taken yet because the golden laced came home from the feed store with the runs and I didn't want to stress her out even more. If they do have Cocci, I suspect she is the one who got it at the feed store initially. poor thing.
Bahahaha! First time I've laughed all day! Thanks!
really anything works. just needs a heat source a way to protect from drafts and predators. here is the one I built a few weeks ago from. So, I'm going on vacation for a week, but when I get back I want to build my brooder.
We have some plywood that was taken from my brothers old, weathered fort...I don't want to use it on the coop, but it would be just fine to be used as a brooder, right? I could cut each one in half, nail them together, and it would be a 4x4 brooder. For the bottom I was thinking about taking that heavy-duty plastic stuff and stapling it to the outside of the plywood. That way when it's time to change litter all I have to do is remove the chickens, take out the staples, and just grab the plastic and dump everything in the garbage.
Opinions? I like to have a set plan before I do things..and I tend to obsess, research and ask a LOT of questions..just to make sure everything is going to be done perfectly..
yes just block the breeze and the chicks are good with a light. i have chicks out side with a light now
your project is off to a good start with those eggs....
My Empordanesa lay a nice egg though not as dark as bigdaddysmom . she is closer to you as well in Paradise
me
Nikon glad you found what you need. Sulmet works good to though and is also good for respitory issues
Thanks everyone for bearing with me! The people at ridge feed were actually rude to my grandmother and said she was wasting money on the Corid, that they were almost certain the chicks have worms as they talked over her trying to explain what their poo looks like. I've come to the conclusion I love my BYC chicken family! LOL, at least you guys know that Ameraucana's don't lay green and pink eggs
We decided to go ahead and get the Corid and treat them, better safe than sorry. After they are all treated we will give them some B vitamins to help them get back to normal. (Thanks Chickee, you've been amazing!!!)
