http://www.quailfarm.co.uk/index.php/quail-and-healthSo sorry to hear about Ruby. My DH culls my birds for me and I go into the house when he does it, too. He doesn't like doing it but he loves me and doesn't want me to have to do it. I will probably get to the point where I can do the culling but that day is not today.
Starting a quail project is exciting! I received 30+ bobwhite quail eggs with my new Hovabator Genesis 1588. I was not planning on ever hatching quail and just expected a few of the shipped eggs to hatch. 19 poppers hatched and they are crazy fun! They are 2 weeks old now and it is difficult to clean their brooder because they can hop completely out of it. We have lost a few over the sides and had to catch them! I have friends asking for quail eggs so I am thinking about getting some cots since they mature faster plus lay such beautiful eggs. I didn't know that there was a health benefit to quail eggs. Do you have a link to that article? Thank you!
I opted to buy the Genesis 1588 with turner because they are decent incubators and a good price at $200 shipped. It holds up to 41 chicken eggs and up to 120 quail eggs. But as soon as I started my first hatch, I wish that I had bought a Brinsea Octagon 40 with humidity pump or a Rcom Max 50. I have had 2 good hatches with the Genesis but the humidity reading was off and I had to mess with it. Of course, I dream of having a Brinsea cabinet incubator like Deb has!![]()
Here is one link that shows how the high Vitamin D & antioxidant value helps fight cancer. There are lots of articles, but they all kinda point to the same thing.
