My Costco has none of that!

I wonder if I can get the one in Woodland to carry at least chicken feed.....Maybe if those of us in the area called to request it?

I was so surprised! You could probably call. I think sometimes they ship stuff with no shipping charges. That would work since they organic feed was like $6 cheaper than the feed stores. It was in the "organic" section by the front of the store. They advertised it as helping you to stay organic with your own eggs.

Our carson Costco still had it this week . Very cool.

What is the ration of baby vitamins and or acv for a little pint of water? Should I do both or just acv if they are looking fine . No one is slumpy. I just want to give them a good start and don't want to overdose them. Two days old at this point and both had splayed legs . One pecked off the trimmed bandaid and I was surprised at how nicely it worked in a short period of time .I let them waddle around without the hobble for a bit and reapplied for the night. The cutest chicks I have hatched so far!

The ACV(Apple Cider vinegar with the mother) goes into the water. I do not use it now(have a metal water fountain) but I gave them a couple of Tablespoons per gallon.

The baby vitamin without iron is a liquid and is given as a drop by the beak twice a day. I only give that to sick looking chicks. I did save my daughters bunny with it too though. For this last hatch, none of them got the vitamin. I do give them Freedom GMO Free Starter\grower that has all of those vitamins in it though.

It's now in it's window to hatch

They have an incubation period of 26-29 days, that would be today through Tuesday. When I candled it on Friday night I didn't see anything, although the veining still looked good. When I candled it last night, I did see some movement and the egg is fairly full looking.

But I definitely know where the old adage "don't count your chickens before they hatch" comes from. I've seen many a seemingly perfect egg that just doesn't hatch

And I HATE to assist them and find I was too early or too late!

Did I miss the update on the macaw egg?

If nothing hatches in the next day or two, I'll put together some eggs for you.  I didn't write down when anyone started to sit, so I don't know for sure.

ETA - and I haven't candled them at all.

Ok. Thank you! I look forward to the day when my girl is laying for us again :) although watching her with babies sound exciting too! ;)

There is a question on the Heritage Large Fowl thread about Cheryl Cohen's Silver Pencil Rocks. Who has them now?

Deb, what line do you have?

I feel most sad for the owner, he was so excited, it would have been his first chick.

Mine are Horstman. Let me think, I was at Cheryl's when she had Walt go over them for her. I'm pretty sure she said that some came from Wynette. I wouldn't swear to it though and I believe she had two sources. I think she sold them all to Shannon at Die Fly Ranch.

yes, i think that's right! Shannon is who i got my two campines from, she's decided to focus just on the araucanas and SPPRs.

sorry to read that the macaw egg quit -- on the chick front here, Amelia #2 has at least 3 chicks and i think perhaps as many as five -- didn't want to dig around under her too much, but at least one SPPR/SFH cross hatched, plus the two CL/SFH crosses. will check the broken eggshells (i'd written my best guesses on them) as i clear out her nest later -- there's still at least one egg (of course, a Daisy egg) that hasn't hatched, so leaving her alone for now, in case it still pips.

Way to go Amelia 2!
