Ron don't get rid of your favorite breeding birds! Let's work something out. I'm hauling sheep back from OR right now so have limited Internet access and hate trying to type on this little keyboard that I can barely see, so email me.

Kim, in blissfully cool weather, blue skies... Having my coffee while I gaze at the ocean

Amy - I can't see the pictures well enough. The picture Wishing4Wings posted of Monkey is a pea comb. I made my olive eggers from pure Ameraucana's. I have 3 OE girls that are currently in with my barnevelder rooster.

quick question: a few days ago one of the 7-week-old sussex pullets was seeming a bit subdued/low energy, and after my experience of Lucy the delaware passing away, i decided to put corid in their water, just in case. she's now perfectly perky again, after having it for a day & a half, and everyone else is full of energy too. so the question is, do i stop using the corid, or must it be continued for a certain number of days, the way antibiotics should be?

thanks!!

Happy belated Birthday Amy Beth.

I hear you on the smoke, it's really bad hear too. Slows business when you can hardly see across the street. I think we're going to have to get use to it, it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

And how did everyone know it was Amy Beth's birthday. Where does it show?

Ron, I am so sorry about your having to rehome your chickens! Are you able to keep some? Is it just roo's? Wow, that's just devastating! You seem to be taking it pretty well.

Meg, I love multi quotes!

I ended up with 13 Polish chicks, although each broody still has eggs. One has one egg and the other one has three under her. I removed 4 that were clear or early quiters, but they both are on and off the eggs so I probably will take them in the morning and let the moms get out and about. The EE broody already took hers down the 2' high ramp and right outside!

I still have an EE on 9 eggs so hopefully we'll have more colored eggs. I lost my really good Tiffany blue layer (I think Sunny hatched from her) but I have beautiful moss green to light green.

I also have several beautiful EE Cockerels that are 3 months. I have one that is a very nice cockerel. Nice amount of puffy cheeks, pea comb, incredible feathering and a nice boy on top of that.

Amy Beth, if you'd be interested, I'd trade you EE's with pea combs for Marans. I want dark eggs and see what my Ameracauna Roo would do to the egg color.

Lynda, I enjoyed your morning lecture thank you!
I am keeping the pullets. The notice was to the rooster at 10....It was kind of cute actually. Megan is taking Seiji the Basque cockerel. We should be able to work out a visit or two to get some fertile eggs.

I called yesterday and left a message for the officer. I told him the Rooster would be gone be Monday and gave him my phone number. He did not call back so as long as the rooster is gone I should be fine. I am rehoming 8 tomorrow and will have my limit of chickens after that.

Pullets are legal in Woodland and is a chicken friendly City. I may work out an arrangement later with Kim. She has offered in the past to let me grow out some cockerels. I would like to do something with Penedesenca's later.

I am also looking into Quail, since you can keep males with them. I also have quail rails for my incubator. There is a project I heard of for getting City Apartment Dwellers raising Quail. So I would be able to hatch and get really cute little eggs from them.

It is sad but I am ok!

I replied to this with a quote but do no see it. Treat them for the full course and then give them medicated feed. They will build up resistance but watch them and see if they start acting like th are sick again.

Corid has a withdraw, so you need to stop giving it to them at around 14 - 16 weeks so you can eat those cute little pullet eggs. They should not have problems with Cocci after 14 weeks. Often sooner, so if you can get them past this bout they should be fine.

I hope this one goes and I haven't replied twice.

Thank you kim!

I posted before without seeing this.

The Marans I was going to sell any way and the Cream Legbars will do much better in San Jose. That leaves Corwing the SG Dorking and Seiji the EO Basque. Later maybe Penedesencas.

Have a great time in Oregon!

thanks (again!!), Ron -- they're all on medicated feed since i got them, so that's already happening -- but how long is a "full course" with Corid? (it's probably written on the powder packet, but i'm at school and seem to recall the printing on the packet being so small i could barely read it even with my reading glasses on...)

Quote: Sorry, that was in the post that disappeared. 5-7 days at full strength, 1/2 tsp per gallon. The mixed corid is good for three days, so six days is what I usually use as a full course. After that, you can give them half strength for another 5 - 7 days, but I think the medicated feed will take care of the second lower course. I have been giving them the first full strength course and then the medicated feed for 2 more weeks. Then I watch them but have not had to give them more. They build up resistance and do fine after that.

Corid is amazing at saving them from Cocci!

Awesome! Glad to hear everyone is doing well!

HI Everyone! I am from N. California! Near Sacramento!
I was wondering if any of you knew where I could find juvenile American buff geese at? I am hoping to add a few to our little farm.
Thanks for any help!!
Welcome to the thread! Not sure about geese, but maybe Amy Beth (Zooweemama) can point you in the right direction? Good luck with your search and I hope you find this thread useful!
