Does anyone down there have SLP?  
One of my 4-Hers lost her Mottled Houdan to a hawk this weekend.  She has had the worst luck ordering them.  Wondering if someone might have a pullet  about March when travel is better.  I was going to order eggs from Horstman but sounds like a long shot getting them in good condition.

I know you're speaking in jest, but wow, not the answer. I was at Mary's and witnessed her emu's trying to kill Lucca her Icelandic hen. Looked just like the velaciraptors in Jurassic Park!

I'd LOVE to hatch an emu and raise the chick (for awhile), I would NOT keep an emu after what I saw!

. Some of the eggs have that terrible glow of an empty dark egg, some of them look a little darker, like there is some hope. Of course I'm just going to leave them all in. They are due to lockdown on Christmas Eve....................so good hatching vibes everyone for Jason!

Ron, can you give an Ivermectin summary for me? I know you know and it's been on here but so hard to find things in the thread. Pour on available at TSC, injection would have to order at Jefferson supply. I've never wormed but was thinking nows the time as I am about to reshuffle everyone and I know the eggs will stop so might as well kill two birds with one stone. I'd be looking at about 200-250 chickens to treat.

I use Ivomec pour-on after a round of wazine
0.25 cc dropped on the neck for bantams, 0.5 cc for large fowl. Which is about 5 drops behind the neck on a large fowl

Jason - maybe you should look into a livestock guardian dog? I agree with Deb on emu's not being a good choice to protect your flock. They recognize ANY chicken that is new and try to stomp it. Mary keeps her emu's separate from her chickens.

Made some very hard decisions this morning....

I'm going to get out of the chicken "business". A few other reasons, but mainly my health. I just can't do the things I like to do anymore it seems. Of course I'll still have chickens in the backyard, but the breeding is going to have to be put on the back burner. I will be selling everything...

incubators, coops, birds etc. Birds will be auctioned or sold privately, everything else... I'll probably put a craigslist ad together.

It's been so much fun with all of you guys!
