The chicks want to get out!Eric asked me last night what I had planned for today, told him "nothing set in stone". Change of plans at 7:20. I have my first ever pip! Not sure if the one next to it is rocking or if it's just my inability to hold the light still. So excited I filled the dog bowl with hot water-twice.
How do I work on my broody room and watch eggs at the same time?
I'll buy some if I can't any of my own eggs to hatch for some reason. I might anyway so I can have a more diverse blood line. I love these little guys and personally- I like eating their tiny eggs. They are perfect for me.Thank you! I just love these little guys they're so sweet and fiesty too haha I'm hatching eggs from them soon and selling hatching eggs wonder how they'll sell
I could be totally wrong but the chick we suspect is ours from Orp x BLRW...acts cocky. Stands upright and charges our hands when we mess around with their food or water, or just interact with them. I am a dude magnet! ahh! LOL We'll see if my power of observations are right though. I hope to be wrong!
REALLY? That would be awesome. Seriously. LOLMost of the chicks that do that to me (including biting) are pullets. I've been bitten and hand attacked by more pullets than cockerels. Cockerels tend to be the friendly ones.
Quote: X2! The little roos are often very friendly. The little girls get friendly when they reach POL(Point of Lay). It is one of the signs that they are ready to start laying eggs!
Exception is my little Basque hen. She did worry me because she was too friendly.
Yay! I am thrilled to hear that. Could be why my Marans were always so sweet because I had nearly all males. And why my Orps where such spazzes...they were mostly all girls. You guys made my day! I was getting bummed. lolX2! The little roos are often very friendly. The little girls get friendly when they reach POL(Point of Lay). It is one of the signs that they are ready to start laying eggs!

Quote: Yesterday I was looking at my Dorking crosses to see if they looked ready to lay. One of the things I did was touch on the back to see if they would squat. They made little chirps and ran away! When they are ready to lay, they will squat and begin chatter talking to me. Roos can get mean at the same age, so the nice little friend will peck at you!
